She looks at him like she wasn't expecting anyone to just run in and protect her without a second thought, like "you could've let me die right there," meanwhile Oscar doesn't even acknowledge it as a big deal; that's just what teammates do. <3

Am... am I the only one who actually liked Penny’s sacrifice, Jaune allowing her to make her own choice for ONCE (seriously he’s the only character in the volume to respect her own wishes instead of telling her what to do), letting her death be her own, and having her give the powers to Winter after she learned to follow her heart from Penny? I was firmly on team Do Not Kill Penny Again in volume 7 and most of 8, but I thought this was impactful and well-executed. Uh, so to speak.

One thing this finale gave us was the reminder that Oscar secretly has long leg

this is such a minor thing but I can’t un-notice it, Oscar bends his knees to jump and then just. Levitates without jumping XD
