Peter looks at her and squints a little, he feels like he's been tricked into going to therapy. She doesn't really understand the full nature of what she's saying though, Pepper Potts was a public figure, an icon, on the cover of magazines and things, Peter Parker was just a guy. If Pepper put on a mask and started swinging around the streets of New York Spider-Pepper would have just as many people targeting her as Pepper Potts. Peter Parker however didn't really have enemies, that was more of a Spider-Man thing and getting close to someone meant bringing them into a world where they could be in danger because of Spider-Man but there was no way of warning someone as he could only let someone he truly trusts know that he is who he is and by that point they're already in the realm of danger.
Oh great, now his brains hurting.
"Damn.. Okay mom." Peter mumbles as he processes what she's said. "I'll work on.. letting people in, I guess." he replies although it's one thing to say it and one thing to do it and he could say he was going to pretty easily but actually going through with it was going to be more of a challenge.
