Tali just laying her head on Nate's lap, a tired Quarian but y'know, still wants attention. // @vaasnormandy​ hurting my soul

               it’s not exactly something he’s used to. sure, he’s the physical type, always flopping on his crew, using them as portable rest stations, pillows, whatever. but that’s him shoving himself into others’ spaces. something about him —— being the commanding officer, or just plain his bristly personality —— prevents others from doing the same. so when tali invites herself into his space, curling up in his lap like a damn kitten, it gives his heart a sharp yank. shit, she’s cute.

               “ this would be the part where i’d play with your hair... uh. if you have it. ” super smooth, nathaniel. his hand hovers over her, uncertain where to touch, where his clumsy hands wouldn’t accidentally rupture a pipe or snag a wire or something... eventually settles on her bicep, thumb pushing past the folds of her decorative sash to rub at the underlayer of her suit. 

               “ tired, honey? ”

tali is just standing there, wearing a cowboy hat, not looking suspicious at all. // @vaasnormandy​

               “ you stealin’ my gear, lil’ lady? ” nate is struggling not to laugh, and actually doing a manageable job at it. but it’s not easy. tali is both hilarious and adorable.

"you were and you are," did it really matter if he turned his attention else where to know it was true? no. this song and dance was an old one.

the commander gripped for the seals around the base of his helmet, feeling for the lock to pry it off. when his fingers felt the damaged casing, he braced himself for the pain that followed as the helmet was removed. of course his stubbornness came at a cost, one lucky shot from behind as they had retreated back to cover. "things are always messy, if i left someone behind every time something went south, i would have no crew," shepard insisted as he applied medi-gel ( more like slapped ) to where the bullet burned through the layers to the skin on his jawline.

burns healed, helmets were replaceable. tali was not.

"we know they have incendiary rounds now. find us a way around them, would you?"

one must always understand the risk that they take when going on missions like these . the collectors are dangerous , && should be stopped as soon as possible . when the three of them went into this mission together . emotions are high strung . let alone when you are the one who worked on the genophage . the trigger finger was close , the itch to pull it was close at hand , shepard stepped in , even a comment from tali . unsurprising . having worked with shepard for as long as the other had - mordin didn ' t doubt that the morals the both of the share could be one in the same .

don ' t murder his student . don ' t harm . genophage though - can not be tampered with or messed with . unhappy , with results , but complained none the less . topic should be dropped once on the ship - mordin would then make himself busy with the itch that was bothering him . he ' s not ever wrong on his choice in the matter . if the both of them hadn ' t stepped in he WOULD have pulled the trigger to kill maelon .

once back aborad the normandy , mordin was about to be head deep into collectors data , when the quarian machinist herself showed up . he let her say what she wanted to say , a low hum he gave in reply . “ disappointed ? understandable . not faulty in the sightest . but not wrong still . genophage is to not be touched . not tampered . hands are already stained with blood , of course can not be seen . but it is there . adding more blood seems illogical . though you agree with shepard , yes ? inquiry . explain reasoning as such . ”

look at that sky.

THE SKY? shepard almost laughs, but traps it behind clenched teeth when he notes the wonder in her voice. maybe he decides that with just the two of them, it could be safe not respond with a flippant remark.

so, the commander follows where tali points and is greeted by a swath of stars and the two moons that loom big overhead. it's an ocean and for a second he feels like it could swallow them up. the observation deck lacks this view.

"good call," he concedes once he feels like he can breathe again. "let's take five before going back."

a  sensation  akin  to  static,  biting  electric  pulls  at  the  back  of  her  neck.  a  flare,  rare  in  l3's  but  they  happen  all  the  same.  an  overuse  of  implants,  human  biotics  unnatural  with  exceptions,  suppose  genetic  modifications  would  make  you  more  apt  to  handle  -  miranda  lolls  the  inspection  from  one  salarian  doctor  around  in  her  mind,  a  tittering  mantra  that  keeps  her  steady.  apt  to  handle..  what  utter  shit.  teeth  snap  as  she  shivers,  casting  a  wearisome  glower  over  at  her  companion.  quarian,  engineer,  one  of  shepard's  original  crew,  and  certainly  no  fan  of  this  cerberus  officer  (  well,  former  at  this  point  ).  

“  pain  isn't  the  right  word,  ”  she  grits  out.   “  just  a  minor  malfunction  of  my  implants,  it'll  pass.  didn't  expect  you  to  be  concerned,  tali'zorah  -  after  all,  what  was  i  again  …  ”  a  half-cocked  smile  manages  to  pull  against  pained  features,  “  —  a  cerberus  cheerleader  bosh'tet  ?  ” 

oh,  her  accent  is  incredibly  off.
