headcanon. it’s lena’s sadness that elizabeth is most drawn to, and it’s not in the way that’s pitying. if anything, it’s curiosity. she wants to know what makes the girl tick, what keeps her going after so much unhappiness and heartbreak. in a way, it’s because she almost sees herself in lena, but only to an extent. the heartbreak is what keeps elizabeth going, but the heartbreak is what seems to make lena want nothing more than to stop living. with the two together, though, both are made stronger.
