{Digimon Adventure} ~ Ep24 (J.P.N Ver.)
"The INQUISITIVE HEART Will be placed right next to the IGNORANT Heart!"
"If there are people who will throw away their hearts..." -Vadermon, about Koushiro {throwing away Koushiro's Inquisitive Heart}
{IMGs by Me} {DO NOT RE-POST} (Please ASK to Use)
Koushiro: How do I throw it away?!
Vadermon: Pray for it!
Koushiro: I don’t want to know! I don’t want to...know...
(I had to edit out a few lines of dialogue to fit the images into Tumblr.)
I’m re-watching this scene from episode 24 for research for Day 5 for Tai//shiro Week. I was the one who asked for Day 5′s Topic, but my original fanfic wasn’t working, so now I have to throw out my rough draft and start over.
Episode 24 is one of my favorites, definitely in my top 5 Adventure episodes. “Is it wrong to want to know everything?” is my favorite Adventure quote. (I always say that “FRIENDSHIP!” from the diner episode is my favorite quote, but if I’m being serious, it’s this one.)
And I always say that “friendship” is my favorite crest and I mean that seriously, because I’m a sap. But Koushiro’s crest is special to me because of how peculiar it is. It’s so human. Curiosity isn’t a virtuous trait. It’s not kind or brave. The pursuit of knowledge for knowledge’s own sake isn’t right or wrong. It can even be perceived as greedy.
But it’s also the most beautiful part of being alive: wanting to learn; wanting to know more; wanting to understand how the world works.
I love the imagery of Koushiro asking this godly figure, “Is it wrong to want to know everything?” It’s innocent but so bold of him. Vadermon scares him by telling him that he’ll go to hell if he keeps questioning him. But Koushiro triumphs in the end, determined to keep his inquisitive heart, no matter if authority figures tell him that he’s wrong. Koushiro learns to be braver in his pursuit of knowledge.
I’m not sure if I can write a worthy fanfic for this episode, but I’m going to try!
From a never-localized Digimon Adventure manhua by Lu Shui Shi. This was an alternate retelling of Adventure Episode 24, in which Koushiro faces off against Vade{r}mon but also more directly, the form of Koushiro without an "Inquisitive Heart", which got localized as "Curosity" in the original U.S. dub.
When I first looked it up only partial scans appeared to be shared, and that might still be the case.
#18 Vadermon
Normal sprite, victory/cheer sprite, defeat/status ailment sprite, attack sprite, and variable sprite respectively.
And I got Vademon! I just love this fabulous space invader! 😊
It irks me though that in this game Vegiemon can't digivolve into Vademon even though they're both available. Ugh. BLASPHEMY I SAY!!
The truth is out there
You'll do what.
And by the way, in the dub, Demidevimon promises to give Vademon some of his "thoughts". It still has the same segment showing Vadermon dancing around a giant crystal poop and then Picodevimon trying to take a crap, though.
