Vagus [System of Players Notification] - friend behind the scene

Vagus started out as a self-insert into a New Generation who would spend time with Hunchy (my favorite character!) and they could protect him if necessary. But over time Vagus developed into something more.

Let's get to know them. New generation has a special Easter eggs game system! Usually these are funny actions that the player must perform in the story, in response to this, the Player Notification System will write congratulations in the chat and give the player a hint. These hints vary in importance - sometimes they are interesting facts about the characters, sometimes they are a piece of backstory, sometimes a warning about future events. The PNS also announces the end and beginning of new chapters.

The main feature of the PNS tone is a slight mockery and banter, in fact, they act as a trickster.

As for how they work within the New Generation, that's it.

In my headcanon/interpratation of NG-story they developed differently:

Since their original role as a character was to protect Hunchy, they automatically became a part of Warner's inner circle.

In the story, they are responsible for building the perfect timeline for the player, under the guidance of a superior being. In short, Vagus comes at the very beginning of history, when many Arnirans have not yet earned their titles. Vagus studies with them, makes friends and communicates with them, manages them, does everything to make events work out perfectly. After the Great Plague, the theft of the Seal of Light (!) and Warner's rise to power, Vagus enters his service. Warner feels something different and incredibly familiar about Vagus, so he tries to keep them closer to himself by appointing them as his advisor. Vagus, managing Warner's trust, directs him towards the “right decisions".

Towards the beginning of the plot, Warner assigns Vagus an additional role - the Inspector of the captured dimensions. Their new duties include visiting different dimensions and collecting tribute from the council of bankers, as well as occasionally monitoring residents.

The supreme being standing above Vagus here is Ion, the Realmshifter that the player encounters in the plot, if this plot breaks down due to the player's actions.

It is worth mentioning that within the smp plot specifically, the PNS have weak power and the ability to control the world (once they build a column of chests on the player's house), but they do not have the right to control the player himself and return him back in time, but Realmshifter can. In canon, Realmshifter calls New Generation“his creation”. Making Vagus his assistant here.

In my headcannons, Vagus can't openly guide the player and tell him what to do, that wouldn't please Ion, it's not fair. But Vagus was allowed to leave bits of information just not too forward. So they decided to leave little Easter eggs, little things that could be missed. Something that can amuse them too, so that they don't go crazy, in an endless chase through the maze of time.

Vagus is on close friendly terms with Verona. (Althoug they're familiar with all the characters, they have a soft spot for a few, in particular - Verona, Hunchy and sometimes Hector).

After the end of the plot of the New Generation, Vagus erases the memory of themselves from all creatures of this dimension and follows the player further.

Vagus physical manifestation is a arachno-demon. Meaning: six arms and a gnarly tail.

They play multiple instruments. Sometimes at once.

They also SUCK at literally anything combat related, but they're pretty good with a bow. Nobody knows how bad they are though.

Also, Vagus is part of the World-Hoppers, the concept that is.... so much bigger than this one smp and part of the connected universe of smps by this letsplayer. Long story short - they have only one form.
