Vaib-R – Intl EP

Whilst mainly releasing, to critical reception, under Moon B, Wes Gray’s latest comes under the moniker Vaib-R on the super promising new Greek label Nous.  It’s a five tracker featuring a couple of remixes including one from Route 8 which was well exciting to see, a young Hungarian producer who first two EP’s have been quality stuff and his effort on this is once more spot on. I’ve also just found out that he will be doing the honours on Nous’ 3rd instalment, so check the previews of that number here.

But back to Moon B. Hitting that beautiful middle ground of suitability for both living rooms, with the dreamy atmospherics, and club dancefloors with persistent kick-drums and the odd fat bassline, there’s something about the composition of this EP that sets itself above many of it's contemporaries. Maybe it’s the way songs like Intl still seem to hit a proper groove, or maybe it’s just the textures and aesthetic of it all, I still can’t quite put my finger on it. Either way have a listen to the lot below, looks like it’s sold out in the usual online outlets so check your local record store for now, well worth picking up if for nothing else than the ace minimal artwork
