This may be an unusual question but I wonder did Sacred Ancestor ever try to make it possible for vampires to walk on daylight? I know that he performed experiments on D which makes me wonder was that his ULTIMATE goal.
Well, short answer: yes. Long answer ahead (with some spoilers)
In the novels there are several Noble's with various degrees of daywalking. The first example that comes to mind are a group of higher Nobles with special sunlight shielding. Does it count as daywalking? Hardly. The only Nobles we can say actually walk in sunlight are from the Sacred Ancestor's lineage (Lawrence Valcua and Byron Balazs) except Lord Rocambole (has sunlight shielding).
Lord Byron is a great example, he is a Vampire despite having human DNA (unlike D, he's a Dhampire) and can walk in sunlight unassisted. Still, we know for a fact this ability isn't innate but awakened, everything because of the Sacred Ancestor's interventions. So yes, he has tried and has succeded in giving a vampire the potential to walk in the sun.
About his goal, though... I have serious problems reading the Sacred Ancestor, as I see him more like a force of nature than a sentient being. His goals, as far as I understand and remember, are purely about survival. Vampires are a dying specie, and he has save it. He tries to, experimenting with his own lineage, the most powerful beings his specie has to offer: The Greater Nobles. Lawrence Valcua is deemed as a success, an ultimate being, at least until the Sacred Ancestor started experimenting with human DNA, leading to D's creation.
ln a way D is the ultimate goal and the current epitome of the Sacred Ancestor's ideals. Further experimenting hasn't lead to a better result, the latest being Byron, who ultimately dies by D's hand, leaving him as the only success standing.
