updated the twin’s sexuality because i discovered something interesting about them--
when i was thinking about what kind of family they may have or what kind of partner they want, i found that both, on a whole, are fairly flexible. because marriage isn’t really that permanent, i think rikvi and vald could both easily marry just to produce children to strengthen their clan. especially vald--he would want to have a child to inherit his title of thane. i don’t think they have any problems having sex with people of any gender, but when it comes to matters of the heart, i think they would only fall in love with someone of the same gender.
and when it comes to having children, i think they would be more inclined to have them with other avvar. rikvi especially wouldn’t have the child of a lowlander--she believes them to be weak and cowardly on the whole. if, by some chance, she did have a child with a lowlander, the child would be raised with her and her alone. the man could come live with her and the avvar, but she would refuse to let her child be raised in such a horrible culture. vald is somewhat the same. though he wouldn’t be against having a child with a lowlander, he would take the baby with him back to the avvar. again, the mother can come too, but the baby will come with him regardless.
❛ i owe you from the thing with the guy in the place and I’ll never forget it. ❜
ocean’s eleven sentence starters | open
Vald’s eyebrows slowly drew together the longer that sentence went on. By the end, his frown was deep and he looked incredibly confused. Was she drunk? Or had she been smoking with Rikvi again?
“I... I’ll take your word for it, Warden. Though I don’t recall anything with your... lack of details. Do you at least remember the activity it is that you owe me for?”
idr if i put this anywhere, but after the inquisitor either encourages cullen to stop taking lyrium or makes him keep taking it, vald becomes an option to replace cullen as the commander of the inquisition forces. he’s better suited to leading the shear volume of inquisition soldiers--cullen might’ve led a couple dozen or so men in kirkwall, maybe even a hundred, but vald has been a raid party leader of various numbers of men since he was 19, ranging anywhere from 20, to 400, to 1000. raid party leaders gain their position through a number of ways--voting, reputation, and just straight up challenging people for it. by inquisition, vald’s led in successful raids all over thedas for nearly 12 years, which is more experience than cullen has at that point. with an inquisitor with high enough approval, however, he would agree to work with cullen instead of replacing him (though there’d probably be some approval docked bc he really doesn’t like sharing responsibilities with someone else). either way, vald would start chiming in on wartable missions and would be the one to plan battles, train, and organize the inquisition’s forces.
weapons
VALD
vald has two weapons. when traveling or raiding, he has a hand-and-a-half sword made of silverite and a heavy ironbark shield. the shield was bought in a trade with some elven merchants seeking passage through the frostbacks, while the sword was a custom request from the dwarven merchants at orzamar. these weapons are meant to be light and quick to draw, so he can quickly jump into battle, but also travel with them for a long period of time.
his second weapon is a two-handed dragon bone greatsword called icebreaker. the blade was crafted by the finest avvar smith when he became thane, and it’s a show of his status. that blade gets used when he’s around the hold and is always by his side during judgements, but is also used when facing another hold or tribe in battle. it’s too big to wield all the time, but if he knows he’s going to get into a fight, he’ll bring it with him because that blade is more familiar in his hand than his hand-and-a-half sword and shield.
RIKVI
rikvi also has two weapons. her first staff is purely ceremonial at this point and is only used around the hold when she has to call on spirits or invoke stronger, more complicated pieces of magic. the wood used, whitebark pine, helps channel her magic, and she’s adorned it with some dragon teeth and falcon feathers to strengthen her connection to her hold and their spirits.
her second weapon is a long spear made custom from orzamar traders. there are inlays of dragon bone with a silverite core, with gems encrusted near the spear tip. there’s a broad spearhead made of dragon bone as well, with two dragon teeth framing the spearhead in the opposite direction, so it tears if pulled out of the body. this is her day-to-day weapon, as well as the one she uses in battle.
