When the valentine came in, he rolled his eyes, recognising it as one of Amycus’s grim valentines. Still, he opened it. And, luckily, was only marginally disappointed. After folding it into a paper airplane, he threw it back to Amycus.

Evan -- I don't actually know when your birthday is. Nor do I particularly care. But sending you a stuffy at breakfast was too hilarious an image to ignore. Happy Valentine's Day! [one owl drops the note, four more carry in a bear half as tall as Evan is]

He saw the large package before he saw the note. However, being raised a gentleman, he resisted curiosity and read the note before inspecting the package. When he saw what it was, he tilted his head back and let out a belly laugh.
