Estelle lands, the owl ruffling her feathers. She carries a letter in her beak, the envelope closed with a dark red wax and a small ribbon tied in a bow affixed to the seal. A ribbon the same shade that Drift had worn in her hair the night of the masquerade.
On the other side in a scrawling cursive is the recipients name followed by a rather small heart drawing. Should they elect to open it, the letter held within reads.
Your letter did find me well, I can admit Iāve been replaying that night over and over. I suppose a good thing about being a vampire is the memory, itās still as fresh as when we were together. My offer of staying at the castle does remain, but I understand not wanting to intrude on the others that live here. With that being said, I would like to extend an invitation to you. If you were interested that isā¦I hope you are. You did say you intended to keep that promise.
If you wanted to meet again, Iāll be at the fountain on the full moon. As cliche as that is as a meeting time, I find that particular phase calming, less crimes happened back in the city during them. But you probably donāt want to hear about my work, it isnāt all that interesting compared to what your story is.
My interest could never wane, but until we meet I want you to have this.
Tucked deeper in the envelope is a larger silken ribbon, a lighter blue shade. Almost like the water of the fountain they had sat on.
š± Valeria hears Estelle before she seems them, leaning out her window, her arm is outstretched for the bird of prey to land on. Her gold gaze fixed on the bird as she gently stroked their chest feathers as a soft āgood girlā. Left her. Turning to make her way back inside, she stopped by Estelleās perch for her to hop onto; having taken the letter from her beak as they had made their way inside. Grabbing a fresh mouse they killed earlier, they tossed it to Estelle to eat before making her way to her desk.
Turning the letter over in her hand, a faint smile graced their lips at seeing their name scrawled in the otherās hand writing. Carefully with their nail, they lifted the wax seal to open the envelope. Taking the letter out, they paused slightly as they noticed that there was something in the envelope still. They would check it after, hands gentle as they unfolded the letter. Golden hues scanning over as they began to read. Their smile only grew slightly at the first line of the letter, addressing them. Her gaze softening as they spoke of how that memory replayed in their head often, at least they werenāt the only one. Sometimes while resting their eyes, they would wake up with the taste of the other on her lips; or think they smelt her scent in the air.
A soft breath they didnāt need left them as they scanned over the other offering for them to stay at the castle, but understanding why they couldnāt. However their brow did raise slightly at the mention of extending an invitation to her if she was interested. Had she not been interested, they wouldnāt have gone to the lengths she had that night with Drift. Her princess, her kitten⦠a small chuckle left them as she gave a small shake of her head at how pretty the other sounded then.
Focusing their attention back on the letter, her eyes widened a tiny bit as they suggested they could meet at the fountain again, during the night of the full moon. Brows furrowing, she moved back to the window, glancing out to look at the current phase. It was a waxing gibbous moon tonight⦠which meant that she wanted to meet in just under a week since by that time⦠the moon would be full. How fitting⦠after all it had been a full moon the night when they had been out by the fountain during the masquerade.
Leaning against the window sill, she continued to read, her smile returning as the other mentioned their work. Of course she was interested in hearing about it, after all, any part of Drift was interesting to them. No matter how big nor small. They raised a brow however when they got near the end, about wanting them to having something. Turning back towards the inside of their room, her eyes landed on the envelope; making her way over, she carefully reached in and felt the ribbon. Taking it out, her gaze was fixated on it. A soft smile made its way onto her lips as she ran her thumb over its silky surface.
Carefully folding the letter back up, she opened her jacket slightly to tuck it into the interior pocket right over where their heart would have been. Closing it, she patted it gently before moving to hold the ribbon with both hands before moving to tie it around so that it would stand out against their hair since it was already tied up.
āSee you in a week, my heart and soulā¦ā
