She feels as if her heart is beating a mile a minute, eyes watching her dad’s retreating form, lips pressed firmly together, waiting. Waiting for the moment to settle in, for the boy next to her to realize just what he’d done, waiting for her dad to turn around & call them out on the LIE ( & maybe he didn’t because he wanted so much to believe it to be TRUE. ) Nothing happened, & instead, she’s the one who realizes how big a deal what he’d done was. So she waits another few seconds, sure her dad is gone, before speaking. ❛ Thanks. ❜ She doesn’t even look at him as she says it, fingers ( unnecessarily ) stirring the drink before her. She’d spent so long working on keeping her private life at a distance from the one she led here at college, It was odd, watching the two finally CLASH. She’s not really sure what to do, how to act. She turns to him finally, head canted in unspoken query. ❛ How did you know? ❜ / / / @valicnt
