Faustus marks the morning by the timestamps of Winter's routine.
Winter's alarm is his only solid starting point. It chimes, quiet and barely obtrusive at all, much as Winter herself, five-thirty on the dot.
She stirs, fast to wake but slow to remove herself from the comfort of his arm around her middle. He's happy to encourage her hesitation, happy to keep her warmth tucked close until a second alarm signals their loose, sleepy cuddle to an end. Five forty-five.
it’s 543 words of valinter pining that nobody asked for <3 feat. winter collins & @veeples’s faustus valentine
“How long are you away for?”
The baking show they watch together weekly had ended an hour ago but neither had moved from the couch. Quiet conversations had flowed between them with ease and organically slowed, enveloping them in comfortable silence until now.
When she turns to Faustus, he’s already looking at her, gaze both unfocused and wholly focused on her, hand resting against his mouth. She’s not used to being watched (seen); her stomach twists, flips, refuses to settle.
Something unreadable shutters behind his eyes for a moment. It passes quickly, replaced with a smile that seems a touch forced. “Three weeks. Not a long tour.”
Not long. Only three episodes of the show they’d have to catch up on. Maybe six dinners, nine coffees (teas, for her).
the news of twc’s imminent return is breaking up households left and right </3
key to this fucked up trapezoid of my & @veeples’s horrible children
pink solid line: romantically involved
yellow solid line: friends (or family, in winter and faye’s case)
grey dotted line: exes
orange dashed line: dislikes each other <3
despite alin disliking winter and faye disliking faustus, alin is faustus’s best man and faye is winter’s maid of honor, which is how alin and faye meet. it’s unpleasant for everyone involved lmao
this tangled web of antipathy results in a knock-down, drag-out battle royale fight between all four of them when alin and faye eventually get engaged because faye insists they all clear the air and move on (nobody comes out of it liking anyone more though rip)

ockiss week 2k22: day seven, “tender” characters: winter collins x @veeples‘s faustus valentine ~600 words, no warnings
She studies him as he lounges on her couch. He loosely holds a pen and taps it against his notebook every so often before jotting down more lyric ideas. The irregular staccato beat is one of her favorite soundtracks now, even more so than his music: It means he’s here.
There’s something different about Faustus today. She noticed it right when he walked in, but since he didn’t say anything, she decided to follow his lead.
Winter hasn’t stopped thinking about it though.
She must have been watching him for too long because Faustus rolls his head to look at her at the other end of the couch. A slow, easy smile spreads across his face. “You okay honey bee?”
Winter nods. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to stare.”
His smile takes on a teasing edge. “Stare all you want. I can pose for you if you’d like.” Faustus puts down his pen and frames his face with his hands. She laughs, the fondness in her chest bubbling up and radiating outwards.
it’s a blesséd time of the year i.e. the time of making ships in the non-binary hallmark holiday movie generator doll-maker
