Valley Hush - “Iced Cream”
SXSW 2017 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 2
Pairs Well With…Sleigh Bells, Sylvan Esso, Charli XCX
Valley Hush plays a personalized type of electronic pop, heavy and eclectic, using songs to jump through unexpected genre hoops with an adventurous, experimental spirit. The duo’s 2016 full-length debut is all over the place, in a good way, sonically layering beats, synths and orchestral production to an effect at times danceable, at times headbang-able and always interesting. Even when they are redefining their reservation, the core of Valley Hush goes back to dream pop with industrial edge. Cutting through the air like knives, Valley Hush take that hypnotic, light pop air and disrupt intently and creatively. Dig into the trio of singles - “Sedimentary”, “Iced Cream” and career highlight “Iris” to catch the many sides of this exciting, Detroit-based act.
Valley Hush mix lush melodies and discordant harmonies for their eclectic single, “Iced Cream.” A sweet treat to soothe your melting brain.
Swell electronic tinged experimental pop from Detroit, Michigan duo Valley Hush (Alex Kaye and Lianna Vanicelli). Iced Cream packs a sweeping melody with swell vocals that makes for a sweet confection that your ears are gonna enjoy tremendously. Check out the endearing Ice Cream above!

Contest entry I did for a local music fest! Valley Hush is out of Detroit
Valley Hush - Black Sea
Its been a long time since i’ve posted anything here with work and sickness and a whole bunch of other life changing stuff!
So to mark my return to giving you people some fucking fantastic music, Here is a band from around Detroit!
Valley Hush were introduced to me by Michigan's finest music sourcing genius (and very close personal best friend of mine) @eatmoreberries.
Upon first listen to Iris was hooked! I scoured their soundcloud and came across this, Black Sea.
Holy shit balls!
It starts of fair innocuous, you think you know whats coming up next, its a love song, surely? Then bam! It grabs you by the fruit and squeezes, producing some tasty juice! The vocals! The lyrics! The percussion! and this serious trippy use of bass throughout the whole song make is sound animalistic and lustful! its a song I could imagine in a “hot and heavy” scene in a movie or in a TV Ad for the sexiest car. It reminds me of the likes of Santigold’s - My Superman mixed with a sprinkle of Basement Jaxx - Dragula.
This is a damn fine song and if it were on tinder you’d swipe right, Match and have more than just a dirty one night stand with it. For me, this is a relationship i want to keep with this band because they are seriously fucking hot, but you can still have substance! Check out more of their stuff on soundcloud and buy their music here too
