An Act of Betrayal - DaiSuga ficlet.
Another ficletty thing. This time I was tagged by @valourandsimplicity and the prompt was Loyalty.
‘THERE’S SUCH A THING AS LOYALTY YOU KNOW!’
Suga’s face was magenta as he yelled, a consequence not just from finishing his run, but returning exhausted to discover Daichi’s secret.
One that, according to Suga, made him disloyal. An act of ultimate betrayal.
And Daichi tried to scrabble out an apology, but instead ended up spluttering.
‘So, did he come here?’ Suga demanded. ‘Or did you go to his?’
‘Kuroo came round,’ Daichi mumbled. ‘He’s -‘
‘Kuroo, I might have known. You just can’t keep away, can you?’ Running his hand over his face, he flopped onto a chair. ‘Am I really that bad?’
Swallowing, Daichi rushed to soothe. ‘No, no, nooooo! Honestly, you’re good. More than good. And I love ...’ He stopped, pausing to lick something off his lips, and moaned softly. He couldn’t lie anymore. ‘Sugawara Koushi, I love you. I love you very much. And you know that.’
Suga’s eyes narrowed. ‘There’s a but, isn’t there?’
‘It’s just …’ Daichi straightened his shoulders, channeled his inner Captain, and hoped he looked not just regretful, but a little commanding. ‘Kuroo’s cheesecake is better than yours. I’m sorry, but that’s all there is to it. Suga,’ his voice took on a pleading tone, ‘Kuroo puts little pecan pieces in the base and …’ he gulped and nudged his dish across the table. ‘Please don’t hit me. Try some, if you want.’
Scowling, Suga spooned some cheesecake into his mouth, eyes filled with rage and fixed on Daichi.
Vanilla and chocolate danced on his tongue. The crunchy biscuit base added a contrast to the smooth velvety silk of the filling, and despite his resolution to pronounce it ‘adequate’ and make a show of swilling out his mouth, he took another spoonful.
‘Fuck that’s good,’ he managed to say before cramming it in his mouth.
‘Oi, that’s mine!’ protested Daichi.
