After climbing the labyrinth of escaleras to Cerro Alegre (sometimes I take a wrong turn and somehow end up on the other side of the hill), after being greeted by the crew of construction workers that call me "la siñorita," though some know my name, after clearing the many new piles of dog shit out of my zone and trying to minimize the space the new pile of garbage that appeared over night, and after hauling all my supplies out of a tiny closet in the neighbor's backyard- I try to get as much work done before the wind tunnel commences. But since this starts as early as 3pm, I've got to stay on high alert, as the winds are powerful enough to blow over my ladder, my paint, and my water container full of brushes. If I survive all this, the pack of dogs may still sneak in and steal my lunch right out of my bag.
