❣ If someone had the power to bring them back after death, would they want them to? - ✂ If they had to choose one weapon to carry forever, what would it be?
❣ If someone had the power to bring them back after death, would they want them to? Talyn probably would want to be brought back. For one thing, death frightens him, for who knows what might wait for him on the other side? As someone who’s put a lot of others there, it may not be the most pleasant of experiences. There’s a reason he tends to lie low around the Day of the Dead.As well, for all his self-loathing… there is a good amount of arrogance in who he is and what he does. There’s a drive to keep going, even if he knows that others might feel his ‘proclivities’ are undeserving of things like second chances and the like. Survival instinct is huge, so if it came down to it… yeah, he’d be back.
✂ If they had to choose one weapon to carry forever, what would it be?
Some manner of knife, hands down. Likely a more easily concealed one, like a gently curved, folding bowie. Maybe his beautiful bone-handled one- always a favourite. He enjoys his bow, and a host of other knives and implements, but in the end the simplest is often the sweetest.
Thank you, @veiled-shadows! <3
Ⓐ - Vaelanys for Val, and Gale for Val
Under cut for Length
A: Alignment, E: Escape, I: Insomnia, O: Offspring, U: Upcoming, and Y: Yack
I’m assuming these are all for Vae, so here goes!
Alignment:
Vaelanys’ D&D alignment is lawful good with a slightleaning toward neutral. Despite his awareness that sometimes laws can becorrupt and his occasional glancing away as they are flouted he is also stillvery deeply rooted in the customs and traditions in which he was raised and isonly just slowly beginning to find the way to step outside of them enough tofind what he wants in his own life.
Escape:
Vaelanys is actually under considerable stress fairly often, and there are any number of things he does when he gets a few moments tohimself to try and cope with it. He enjoys gardening, and lately he was gifteda house with a rather overgrown garden that he’s been spending some time inpruning and replanting. He also enjoys making his own tea blends and spends agreat deal of time carefully crafting them. Drawing has always been one of hisfavorite hobbies, especially when working through his thoughts, so aparticularly stressful day or a complicated mental problem often lead to aworkspace cluttered with several pages of ink sketches. Reading is also a pleasant past time, thoughlately his reading has been more purposeful than recreational. He also enjoysplaying his harp, and spending time with Thorn when they’re not in the companyof others and he can enjoy the man when he is not putting on a public face.
Insomnia:
Vaelanys is a rather poor sleeper. He left Northrend with arather severe case of insomnia and a tendency toward night terrors he has notyet managed to conquer. He often has trouble even getting to sleep, and on theoccasions that he does his sleep tends to be interrupted fairly often withnightmares that bring him shouting or startling awake and make it difficult forhim to go back to sleep. Sharing his bed has brought him some comfort for theseproblems but not entirely fixed them so his sleeping can tend to be a rathererratic thing. He prefers sleeping in to rising early, as frequently when hedoes manage to get to or get back to sleep it’s in the small hours of themorning and he has not had nearly enough rest come sunrise.
Offpring:
Answered here.
Upcoming:
Vaelanys does give a fair deal of thought to the future. Hewas raised to pay it some heed and then several losses throughout his life havemade it a very clear thing to him that it’s extremely important to have somesort of a plan in case of unforeseen events. He has also spent some timethinking about what he wants from life. At the moment however his plans are notparticularly long-term. He has a general idea of what he would like, but agreat deal of it hinges upon things that are still uncertain enough to makeconcrete planning difficult. So far the most concrete things he has planned forthe future involve a few details of a wedding and where he is putting thelavender bed.
Yack:
It’s hard for Vaelanys to pick a single favorite thing totalk about. It depends on who he is talking with and their interests. Hedoesn’t like to be the only one talking in a conversation so typically it wouldbe something his companion is also interested in. He does like to talk aboutThorn, but does not do so often because most of the responses he gets arerather unpleasant. He enjoys talking about tea and herbs and roses. If you canget him speaking about tea, and seem interested he is likely to go on for sometime. He is also rather fond of dragonhawks, and can spend some time talkingabout them and their habits if one manages to get him started. He doesoccasionally pick up interests, he is currently rather intrigued by ley linesand might go on about them in the right company.

Another that I have no idea if it’s accurate, but Valstros! @veiled-shadows
Love-lies-bleeding: Has your character ever done something even though they didn’t want to?
Vaelanys watched the steam slowly curl up from the delicate cup in front of him. The tea looked almost black in the dim light of the lantern, deep and unfathomable as ink, and he blew on it to scatter it into ripples. His hands were shaking now that all he could do had been done, and for a moment the tremors were so intense he did not actually trust himself to touch the cup. Spreading his palms flat on the table, he watched the ripples and the steam and breathed until it stopped feeling as though the wood was jumping under his trembling fingers.
The priest had taken his time in decorating, the effort one of the few he didn't leave only to his maids. No, in this, he'd worked side by side with them, hanging ornaments, stringing lights. Making his home as festive as one could, truly. It was because of this, that he was caught frowning mid sentence. Whatever he'd been saying trailing off as he looked upwards, the tilt of his head just slightly more than what it had been to look Vaelanys in the eyes. Between them, was a strand of mistletoe.
He’d made aspiced holiday blend of tea, but somehow when he’d finished it Vaelanys wasn’tsure it was quite right for festivities, there was something darker than he’dmeant under the spices. It wasn’t an unpleasant tea at all, rich and a little earthywith warm holiday spices over it, rather like the cheer of a wreath hung in adark room. The truth was that perhaps it reminded him a bit more of Valstroshimself than of Winter Veil.
Takinganother sip, he glanced at the cup thoughtfully, about to ask Valstros for hisopinion when the priest trailed off. His eyes came up again, but Valstros wasno longer looking at him. His own gaze followed the line of the priest’s to themistletoe hanging just between them. He swallowed, the tea warming its way downhis throat as he stared from the inoffensive little white and green plant toValstros’ face.
A hint ofheat rose in his cheeks. This should not be so awkward as it felt, but he hadcomplicated it and none of this had ever been quite simple to begin with. Hecould kiss cheeks or brow, there was no need to make this any stranger. And yetin a way that shying away might have made it all the worse in its own way.
So when heleaned down it was to brush his lips once, light and rather fleeting, directly againstValstros’ own. He pulled back a breath later to offer a rather shy and awkwardsmile, before he took another sip of the tea to moisten his lips. Perhaps theflavor reminded him of both Valstros and Winter Veil after all. In any case hewas certain he would never drink it again without thinking of this.
♒ : How my muse would describe yours in one sentence.
“I am fond of him, but he’s entirely a mystery to me.”
