i think that projecting a false version of yourself to appeal to others and live by others validation not only harms yourself, but the people around you. people often feel incited to act in a certain way to appease other people so they don’t look like the outsider. but yet, you are creating exclusion from those you are oppressing. i think appeasing others to ensure you LOOK like a good person is one of the fundamental problems. who are you if not yourself? who are you? why is your morals overridden by appeasing others? reflection is an important thing and people need to do it more, even if you present yourself in a way that appears ‘good’ or ‘kind’ or anything like that. look inside yourself and dig deeper to what is wrong, realise that you can be part of the problem, recognise those flaws and work on it. who you present is not what you are, who you are internally is what you are
