Scream: My character has caused yours to scream out for some reason
Dina cut into her chicken. She smiled and thanked the waiter when he brought her smoothie over. Four months, two weeks, four days, 2 hours and twenty--she glanced at her watch--twenty one minutes since she'd seen hide or hair of Lee Jordan. She'd spoken to everyone she could think of, but even with Lee's knack of making friends she was running out of names.Thomas Riverside hadn't heard from his cousin either.
He had been happy to see her. And he had insisted she have dinner at the restaurant on the house. He'd given her a voucher. She didn't have the heart to refuse him after delivering bad news. And she hadn't eaten much today. She finished the smoothie, but she only ate part of her meal. She walked out of the restaurant and looked up at the London sky. The air was cool. She started walking. She wasn't sure where she was going, but she could apparate home. She passed a bus stop on a corner.
"We should just hop on one and ride around like muggles for a day."suggested Lee. He slung an arm around her shoulders and kissed her cheek."It's a much calmer ride than the Knight Bus."
A bus pulled up. She'd get farther than she would by walking. She glanced at the price and fumbled around in her purse for muggle money. She fed the contraption money. The driver didn't bat an eye. She figured she had it right and sat down. She hadn't asked him when he'd ridden muggle public transportation or why. Maybe she should have. There were so many things they hadn't talked about.
Lee could be a flurry of words and smiles and silliness. They had spoken about important things, too, but there was so much more. The world moved fast. She thought they had more time. She rested her head on her arms and stared out the window. She hadn't been to this part of the city before. She didn't recognize it. Her eyes widened. "STOP THE BUS."
The bus pulled over and she hopped off. She stood on top of bench. There.He--if it was him--was with a blonde in a glittery dress. Dina jumped down. She had to be sure. She pushed pass the crowd, trying to be cautious, unseen, but without losing sight of them. There. They were turning into a hotel. It was bright and electric chandeliers hung from the high ceilings. The light bounced off the blonde's dress like a beacon. They were heading towards the lift. No. She'd lose them.
The blonde giggled and wrapped her gauzy scarf around the man's neck. Turn around. Let me see your face.Dina balled her hands into fists. If it was him, she'd never forgive him for putting her and everyone through hell. After everything he had said? Everything they'd been through? She tried to think pass the fury rising within her. She had to stop them from getting in that lift.
The blonde kissed his neck. She removed her shoes. She leaned into him closer than what was necessary and whispered in his ear. Dina growled. The blonde broke away with shoes in hand and bolted through the doors to the staircase instead. "Come and catch me..."
He laughed. It was him.Dina would know that sound anywhere. She thrust her hand into her coat pocket, fingers tightening around her wand, and followed after them. They were very easy to follow. The blonde's sickening giggles echoed in the staircase and the sound of their running drew attention away from Dina's pursuit. They went up three flights before bursting into a hallway. Dina reached the door seconds after and spied from the window.
The blonde dropped her shoes at the foot of a door and fumbled for the hotel room key. She slid it into the keyhole. Lee caught up. She wrapped an arm around his neck and kissed his lips. She opened the door behind them and pulled him in.
Dina wasn't going to wait until they finished. She flung the room door open. The blonde was moaning against the wall as Lee sucked at her neck. Dina slammed the door behind her shut. "LELAND BENJAMIN JORDAN! I AM GOING TO KILL YOU."
He froze and pulled away and stared into the blonde's eyes. "Forget my face, my names, go home." He wrapped the scarf back around her neck. The blonde slipped her shoes back on and exited.Dina grabbed Lee's shoulder and turned him around.
"DID YOU HEAR---"She stopped. Lee wiped the blood from his face with the back of his hand.
"Don't look at me..." Lee turned away again.Dina grabbed his wrist and pulled his hand away from his mouth. Fangs. They retracted.
She let go of his wrist. "...if I hadn't been here, would you have...?"
"Would I what?"He looked away. "Would I have killed her? No."
Dina rubbed the back of her neck and blushed. "I was...asking if you would've slept with her."
"That was your first question?"laughed Lee shortly and sat on the bed. "Priorities,Dina."The smile faded. "Maybe...Probably."
Dina hugged herself."Oh."
"I'm sorry."He'd never willingly lied to about something important before. He wasn't about to now.
Dina tucked her hair behind her ear."Why?"
"Why? What do you mean 'why'? You were never suppose to see that."He gestured to himself."See me...like this."
"Why would you sleep with her?"
"We're still on that?"said Lee.He didn't understand her."Why do you think?"
"So you don't care?"said Dina."You don't care about me or any of us anymore? Did they suck your heart out, too?"
"Don't. Don't say I don't care,"said Lee. He spotted the blood smeared on his hand and left the bed to scrub the blood off his hands in the bathroom.
"What am I suppose to think?"said Dina folding her arms and leaning in the doorway of the bathroom. "You don't owl. You don't say good-bye. You don't tell us what happened to you. And when I find you, you're chasing blondes, sucking her face, and her neck and---"
"Her blood,"said Lee. He turned around. "Or did you miss that part? I was drinking her blood. Are you jealous of that too?Do you even understand what you're saying?"
"No, I don't understand why my boyfriend would stand here and flat out tell me he was about to sleep with another woman.Explain it to me."
"I missed you."
"You were going to sleep with her because you MISSED me?"
" I didn't want this.I didn't choose this, but I could choose to keep you and everyone else safe from me.I let you go because I never--not while I lived and not now-- ever, wanted to hurt you.I lost everything. My friends, my family,my life, my dreams, and worst of all, I lost you.I loathe what I am. I was lonely. I was hungry. So yes, I would've sucked and I would've fucked, but if you think I'd rather have her instead of what I could've had with you then you have never known me."
Dina stared at him for a moment before hugging him tightly and resting her head on his shoulder. "I missed you, too."
He hugged her and tried to ignore the sound of her blood rushing through her veins. He breathed in her scent trying to memorize it. "Did you have a smoothie earlier?"
"Shut up, Lee,"said Dina. She caressed his cheek with a hand and kissed him. His eyes closed. His hand pressed against her back and he tugged her flush against him. He'd missed this. And he hoped he always would. He pulled back and kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry."
"I know."
"No, for this." He looked into her eyes. She seemed to know. Of course, she did. She knew him better than anyone.Dina shook her head. "No, I just found--"
"Sssh." The distress faded from her face.Lee stroked her hair. "I am not this. I'm dead. You won't remember finding me.I want you to live your life. Live it well.I want you to do whatever it is that will make you happy. Let me go on your own terms. If you find someone else, I hope whoever it is gives you all the love and laughter you deserve. I'm grateful to have had you in my life for as long as I did.Go home and know I love you."
Dina disapparated leaving Lee alone in the darkness.
