For those of you who do not know, I have been addicted to vampires since I was 13, which is a long time ago, so as you can guess, vampire AU struck me in the kokoro. It's already the 5th here, so here it goes:
-----------------
Hinata shivered. The window had cracked open again and the cold winter air entered her room uninvited.
She sat up in her bed, slowly moving her long hair from her face back behind her shoulder where it belonged. Her lilac eyes moved to her night-stand where her fingers found the switch for her lamp, but strangely, nothing happened.
She tried the switch a couple more times until she gave up. The light-bulb must have burned. Again. She arched in her bed to check if this was the case, only to find that the light-bulb was actually... It was missing.
A faint sound almost made her jump. It sounded like the ring of a tiny bell, and she needed a few seconds to figure out that it was coming from the window.
It was then that her breath hitched in her throat. There was someone there, standing at the windowsill. A boy. No, a young man. His hand was absently holding a light-bulb, her light-bulb, and the nail of his index finger patted it's glassy surface, causing it to ring in the silence.
His face was unreadable. It was too dark. Or his face was just too blank. She couldn't really tell.
Hinata had not realized when she had moved, but now she was almost standing in her bed now, her back tightly pressed to the wall. The intruder stared at her for a while, then moved his foot so he could land on the floor of her room. And he did, without making the faintest of sound. The girl felt the need to scream, but could not find the air in her lungs to do it.
Was he a thief? But how could he be one, her apartment was on the 9th floor. There was no way that anyone could climb to her window like that.
A sudden burst of light made her lose her train of thought. She blinked, seeing that he was still in front of her bed, standing still, just like a statue. The bulb was no longer in his hand. It was back where it belonged, and the dim light that her lamp provided now lit the room enough for Hinata to see the young man clearly.
He really looked like a statue. His skin was pale, too pale for any human. His eyes were dark, almost like they devoured any light that dared to come close to them.
Seeing the shock on her face, he couldn't help but smirk.
And seeing that, the girl almost found the strength to scream this time.
Fangs. Fangs too long to be normal.
"Demon," she whispered, pressing harder to the wall, if that was possible at all.
He tilted his head to the side, which caused his messy bangs to almost hide his eyes away from sight. "This again?"
"Hmm, do you really not know this already?"
His voice was low, almost a whisper, but it sent shivers down her spine. Hinata shivered. This was a nightmare. This was a nightmare and she had to wake up now.
"Hn," he let out, taking a step ahead until his legs reached the edge of the bed. "You are not dreaming, princess."
Princess?
Princess.
Her lips parted. Her eyes widened and her feet felt so weak that they gave in and she slid down the wall until she was sitting in her bed again.
"Ah, so you finally remembered," he whispered.
In a blink of an eye he was suddenly before her, leaning above her like predator that was watching his prey's last moments.
Hinata had frozen and could only stare at him as flashes of memories that just couldn't possibly belong to her flew through her head. Her dark room, her lamp not working, the open window.
Sharp pain. Huge pleasure.
She nearly shook her head, still staring at him, trying to understand if she had ever seen him ever before. Because she could swear that for her 19 years of existence she had never met him. And yet he seemed so familiar, with his black shirt, dark jeans and eyes that just devoured her...
"W-what do you want from me?" she managed to ask, and as low as her voice was, he could hear her clearly.
His movements were too fast for her, for anyone, to track. Because she could swear that she had not seen him move, and suddenly his fingers were entwined in her hair, and his face was so close that she would have felt the heat of his skin. That is if he had such.
But he didn't.
"Vampire," she mumbled, more to herself than to him. His onyx eyes moved to stare at her, his face inches from hers.
"This is correct, princess."
"Why do you call me that?"
A crooked smile appeared on his lips for a second before it disappeared completely. "That's alright. You'll remember, eventually."
A gasp escaped her lips as she felt her stomach twist. He had taken her in his arms, and she felt like she weighed no more then a feather. He held her waist tightly, but almost as if he feared he would break it in half. His fingers grazed the fine surface of her nightgown. Sateen suited her too well.
"Let... let me go," she begged, attempting to move back, but it did not work.
The young man stared at her, his face somewhat calm, but fierce nonetheless.
"Never," he noted.
More memories were rushing in her head, until she could clearly remember him. It was like a bad dream that haunted her. But it was not a dream, no.
He was as real as possible.
Hinata watched as he ran his tongue through his lips, through his elongated canines, while running his dark eyes from her face to her neck, to her collar-bone, to her waist. She suddenly felt too naked, too close, as if she had just snapped out of a hypnosis.
This time she really tried to tear herself away from his hands, but it was like someone had molded the hands of a statue around her waist. Nothing seemed to work.
But she knew what he wanted.
"Just... Take what you want and go."
"Oh, so you finally allow me?
She felt her heart skip a beat. His lips were right at her neck and grazed her skin when he spoke.
"No."
"But the faster this is over, the faster I will leave, is that so?"
His eyes were back at her, and the constant blur that were his movements was making her dizzy.
"Yes," she whispered.
"And what if I don't like this? What if it insults me and I accidentally end up murdering you?"
Her lilac eyes suddenly paled. A smirk appeared on his lips again, declaring his victory. She looked away, realizing one second too late that this only exposed her throat more to him.
She raised her arms and placed her palms on his chest, trying to push him away or at least to gain some distance. Not that it worked.
"Please, let me go."
"Never," he murmured. "Never," he repeated, pulling her waist, letting her get closer to him, feeling her shift uncomfortably in his embrace. "Never," he whispered again as his lips grazed her collar-bone and he could now feel the shivers that ran through her skin.
"Never," he barely noted and let his fangs sink into her throat, piercing the gentlest skin, digging into her neck like a warm knife cutting butter.
A gasp escaped her lungs as she stiffened in his hands, trying desperately to pull away. Her heart was racing, banging in her chest fast as a hummingbird, which only caused her luscious blood to pour in his mouth more and more, and each time he swallowed he felt like something exploded in the deepest corners of his mind.
He drank slowly, letting her ease down until she calmed, until her hands were no longer pushing him away but were pulling him closer. The lilac scent of her hair was driving him mad and he could feel as his own heart moved once, as if something had electrocuted his chest, then again, then again, until his heart started moving at the same pace as hers.
Her blood, her scent, her whole existence, was the only thing that had ever made his heart beat again, and this was both a miracle and a disaster. Because he could never let her go now. He needed her, he wanted her and he would have her. But in due time.
Because things couldn't go this way. No.
If she was to become his princess, the queen of his whole existence, then he could at least try and let her want this herself.
Sasuke could always force this upon her, force this darkness upon the brightest light he had ever seen. But she had to want this. He needed her to desire it.
His lips parted as he kissed her neck. He ran his tongue through his canines, piercing it lightly, then licked the two puncture wounds on her skin, letting his blood heal it.
She was weak in his hands, frail, like a miracle flower that had not been watered in a while.
With one hand he embraced her so she could lean on him for support, while with the other he took her chin and gently moved her so she could face him.
More than anything in this world, more than ever, he wanted to kiss these lips. But no, this was too much.
Hinata blinked a few times, casting the shadows away from her vision, letting that strange pleasurable feeling slip away without being able to stop it.
Slowly she fixed her eyes on his, blinking a few times. She could swear that they had been black before. Black as the darkest of nights.
But they were crimson now, just like the stain of blood on his gorgeous lips. And they were staring right at her.
"Forget," he whispered, feeling as if something cold pierced his heart. He hated himself for doing this, but it was best. For her. Otherwise she could lose her sanity. And he didn't want this. because at least one of them had to stay sane.
"Forget this," he continued, and she stared at his eyes without being able to look away. "Forget, and rest. I will come back.
Her tentative question didn't rub him the wrong way tonight, they were both tired and he had zero intention of causing a scene. "Yeah, come on in."
The girl shuffled into his apartment and set her wet, folded umbrella aside as she slipped out of her sandals. "It's been a while, huh? I'm sorry I had to show up in front of you again... I know you hate it."
Sasuke sighed, exhausted, but guided her to the living room, to the comfortable couch in front of the muted TV. "I don't hate it, I don't hate you." His eyes followed her every move across his apartment until she was settled into his lap. They weren't lovers, that was for sure, but this was a position they found themselves in more often than not. "You do understand they're closing in on you, right? You have to cover up your tracks better, Hyuuga, unless you want me to catch you and I will catch you."
Hinata nodded once, unable to form words when they were so very close. "I- I feel bad about it, every single time, but i can't help it!"
"Go ahead, I know you're desperate or you wouldn't have come here."
Hinata eased his shirt over his shoulder and sank her fangs into the tight tissue just above his collarbone. His blood was sinfully delicious, like expensive warm chocolate coating her tongue with every gulp.
His grunt went unheard, and she managed to ignore the heat of his hands on her arms. "Not so fast, i'm getting lightheaded."
but she was starving, she hadn't been able to find a suitable person to feast upon in weeks; it wasn't her fault the Commander of AVP (anti Vampire Police) was willing to turn a blind eye for her sporadic visits.
That is, until she could track down Uchiha Itachi, a wanted criminal even in the immortal's circles, and then she will also be damned to a lifetime of torture and imprisonment.
So for now, they will use each other and abuse each other, until one day he will drive a silver stake into her heart.
Until then, she will not tell him that she hoped for a better outcome, that she only came here hoping for a chance at friendship -and maybe something more- but he will always, always, assume she was only there for his pure undiluted blood.
She always had tears in her eyes when it was time to put her sandals on and disappear into the night, Sasuke liked to tell himself it was a side effect of sucking blood out of someone and not because the girl had any kind of emotional connection to him.
