So I just finished watching BBC Dracula

More VampireDaichi antics because I’m obsessed.

HE CANT CHECK THE MIRROR and also he’s old so his clothes always look silly or outdated somehow.

Ok here’s how it goes:

Somewhere USA, modern day (Covid?? Maybe maybe not)

Daichi, a night shift police dispatcher and also vampire.

Suga, a night shift gym employee and college grad who hasn’t gotten hired yet to work at an actual school

(Sorry, I love a bit of canon compliance)

After seeing Daichi come in numerous times post-shift to work out, Suga decides to make a move. He knows from his member tag his name is Daichi Sawamura. Asks him in Japanese if he speaks Japanese when he’s on his way out. Daichi’s super surprised and they start having a conversation. A couple more times, maybe some body language signs, and Suga is like, yeah I think he’s into me. So he asks him out to coffee. Daichi, super bummed, is like sorry I keep a pretty strict night shift schedule. Which Suga gets and is like, duh, there’s a 24hr place 15 minutes from here and Daichi is just so shook he agrees.

Anyway, maybe they have a couple dates and Suga is like, wow I cannot believe my luck, but also Daichi is kinda weird. Covers his face/mouth when he laughs, outfits don’t always make sense, his Japanese sounds super dated, changes the subject regarding his friends and family, hasn’t tried to kiss him, and boy, he wasn’t kidding about that strict night schedule adherence. Is he in the mafia? Shy homeschooled kid now awkward adult? Like what’s going on here??

At some point there’s a POV switch to Daichi and, well. He’s a vampire. He’s in the secret vampire club with other various Haikyuu cast (haven’t nailed it down yet, but Hinata as a vampire would melt my heart soooo much). There’s probably some kind of vampire collective where they get to sit down and talk and vote about issues and shit that could effect the whole group. So Daichi is like fuck it I’m gonna have to tell them I’m pretty serious about Suga and what not. Probably because I’m fantasy/magic/supernatural trash, we can have some kind of binding agreement wherein if Suga agrees he’s serious enough to date Daichi and meet the clan(warren? Coven? Brady bunch??), then he’ll have to agree to never talk about it under penalty of death or memory loss or some shit (dramaaaa). And if he walks away it’s just a happy memory wipe, NBD

And so Daichi decides he’s gonna tell Suga and give him the choice. Cue minor freak out and then big grown up conversation. Suga goes home to think about everything. There’s probably like this big long chapter of internal conflict and shit. And I mean, when does their relationship end? At some point Suga is gonna get old and Daichi isn’t so, man, that’s a lot to think about.

And then I’ve reached the end of this train of thought. I’m also trying decide how old Daichi is. I think it’d be fascinating to have him be about 70 and a ww2 era kid but like man that’s a lot of unpacking I don’t think I could do justice.

At the very least I would get to talk about how much disrespect you get working night shift lol.
