I mean

I love Tanya Huff, I have for decades at this point

but like, her 90′s fantasy is so Very Much 90′s Fantasy in a way that’s hard to describe to anyone who doesn’t already know what you’re talking about? (Not Fitzroy/Nelson/Tony whats-his-name, though they are very much a product of a place and time as well, that’s because they’re SET in that place and time, urban fantasy almost before that was a thing, rather than the way 90′s Fantasy was its own genre.)

While Confederation of Valor is so well set within it’s own universe it doesn’t matter what our universe was doing when she wrote it.

/tho now that I’ve been rambling I kinda want to re-read Child of the Grove/The Last Wizard.. Do I have that somewhere? Does my library? (Probably not, they’re not so great with fantasy *sighs*) Does my mother still have them so I can “steal” them next time I visit? *HMMM*

P. N. Elrod - Dark Road Rising (Jack Fleming)

If Pat's Kickstarter gets funded, the new short stories collection will feature a new Jack Fleming novella... you know what to do, right?

Two weeks ago I made a post about P. N. Elrod's Kickstarter project to fund her second short stories collection. The amount Pat seeks is small, intended to pay for professional editing, cover,..., but the project is not yet fully funded, with 11 days to go.

So... what are you waiting for ? Sometimes you have to take a gamble on Kickstarter projects that look cool, but you don't know whether the creators will deliver (and sometimes... you really doubt they will, but still you take a chance). This is not one of these instances. This is a sure bet. Most of the material already exists, and Pat has steadily delivered enjoyable and well-crafted stories for halfof the years I've been on this Earth.

P. N. Elrod is the author of The Vampire Files, a really fun and pulpy series featuring a P.I. and a vampire in 1930s Chicago, as well as many other novels - too many to list here.

She has already gathered some of her previously published short stories (and a new one) in a first "Lunch Time Reading Omnibus". Now she's preparing a second omnibus, and has launched a Kickstarter fundraising with a very modest "target amount that will pay for editing, interior design, cover art, and all the other details that go into the publication of a professional looking book."

eBooks have made self-publishing a real alternative for writers, but novices often fail on the production aspect. Pat is a consumate professional, and she knows these things matter. She's right.
