wrote this during and after a ten-minute writing sprint for my vampire novella wip:
“Do you wish to pull away?”
She turns her head to look at him. Their faces are close. Inches apart.
“You said you won’t drink my blood.”
“That’s right.”
“Then it’s all right with me.” He grins, making her look at his mouth. “Can I see them?”
He chuckles as he pulls away and drops his hands. “Are you asking me what I think you’re asking?” She nods. “All right.” He opens his mouth and Valentina watches as a pair of fangs slide out. Her hands lift and holds his face, examining closely.
“They are…”
“Scary?”
“Pretty.”
Daniel chuckles. “That’s the first.” Her thumb brushes his cheek. “Do you want to touch them?”
“No, no.” She releases her hands but Daniel’s cold hands covers them, holding them in place against his skin.
“Go ahead.”
She bites her bottom lip as she brushes her thumb against his fang. She reaches the tip and stops. “It’s not that sharp--” Like a needle, his fang pricks her thumb. She snaps her hand away.
“I’m sorry.” Daniel grabs her hand and takes the towel from the floor and presses it to her thumb. “I should have stopped you. I didn’t think you’ll do that. But I should have expected.” His other hand is holding her side.
Valentina observes Daniel. His soft white hair. “Why do you let me...?”
Daniel lifts the towel to look at her thumb. No longer bleeding. “Let you what?”
“Touch…” Her other hand runs through Daniel’s hair. He freezes. “You seem awfully comfortable.” She rubs his hair between her fingers.
“Don’t…” She freezes. He mutters the rest of his words and she swallows as she feels how soft his hair is. He sighs, “I don’t know why I let you.”
