Verskotzi EP Release, Greycoats & Van Stee
My work is fun, I admit. I go to shows, a lot of times for free, and see my friends play music. Some nights, though, it can feel like work. Last night, however, I went out for PURE FUN and OH MY GOODNESS I just had the TIME of my LIFE! (forgive me for yelling). But seriously.
It was a double header to beat all double headers. I started the night at the Turf Club seeing Verskotzi release their new EP "Waving." Okay, if you have never seen Verskotzi live, you MUST (oh - we happen to be playing a show together on Jan 24th at the Aster Cafe, by the way). Verskotzi is crazy amazing and engaging, not to mention that the band, fronted by Joey Verskotzi, has the best musicians in town. No joke. We're talking Ian Allison, Izaac Burkhart, and Grady Keneven. Killin' it. Here's a photo:
With a very full heart, I skipped off to the Nomad World Pub to catch two of my favorite local bands EVER, Weather Maps and Greycoats. Sadly, however, I missed the Weather Maps set. I did arrive in time though to see Greycoats, and John Reine in all of his glory. Their show was as good as ever. To remind you, this is the band that my producer Matt Patrick plays electric guitar for. He is on the left:
I was EXTREMELY pleased, however, to discover that most of the members of Weather Maps, who I missed, are also members of the headlining band Van Stee. They totally rocked it and the frontman Charlie Van Stee, more than once, busted out his light goggles. Amazing.
So, all that said, I will be posting some videos because how could you not? This stuff is fantastic. See ya then.
