Winter Veil gift for @aschesofthehunt.
Left in Vandeis’ tent was an ale cask with a note atop it.
Vandeis,
I thought you may appreciate this, especially on this holiday season. You seem to appreciate many of the things I am often left alone to appreciate, thankfully. Inside of this cask is Alehammer Abyss Ale, the darkest ale they make, and my absolute favorite drink. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, and share it with those you care for most.
Merry Winter Veil, Alorinis
Forlorn Forest
The battle of the Dawnspire had been a tough and grueling fight. Vandeis had come out of it nearly unscathed, save a few scratches from demons that had gotten a little too close for comfort. In comparison, many demonic enemies had suffered far more than a few of his arrows before falling dead.
Yet, even as he, himself, needed no immediate treatment, he found himself making a beeline towards the infirmary once the battle had settled. Despite the cheery disposition he always carried, and the smile that was a permanent fixture upon his lips, he was not ignorant of the cost such brutal battles brought. As his eyes scanned the lines of wounded, and ears twitched at spoken names of those who were being listed as lost, his expression merely dimmed into a sympathetic smile.
Despair was a foreign emotion to him, one that was locked behind careful gates so as to not be allowed free. Despair assisted no one in these times, even as familiar names touched his ears as he walked passed menders, busy with their assignments to those who had seen the worst of it. That faint smile refused to diminish in the face of it.
Winter Veil gift for @aschesofthehunt from Alorinis!
Carried to Vandeis by a overly large eagle, with a crate carried by its talons.
Vandeis and Alexei
I hope your winter has been good and that you have found adventures on the Broken Isles. I loved the shell you sent me, it was warming to know it came from one of your explorations. I know my gift is late, but I hope you enjoy it all the same. The brush is for Alexei, unless you also want to use it, and the cask contains one of my favorite ales. It is a brew out of Dun Morogh, called Thunderbone Ale. I hope you enjoy it is as much as I do.
Have an adventure Alorinis
Promises Kept
She told him to keep smiling, even when the world started to darken. She said, in those times, people will need that beacon to help drive away their concerns and know the sun will continue to shine. She smiled as she asked him to be that light in the darkness, and not give in to sorrow, no matter the odds.
And so he smiled and said he would.
Even when her breath faded away and her heart ceased to beat, he kept that promise.
Even when his eyes stung with tears and his heart grew heavy with sorrow, he kept smiling.
Her words would never leave him.
Hey @sakialyn, guess what? Alorinis hasn’t forgotten about his bastard son he doesn’t know about!
A small hawk fluttered down to Vandeis’ side, carrying a scroll in its talons. With a peck to the arm the hawk brings Vandeis’ attention to the letter it had delivered, waiting patiently for a reply by the man’s side.
Vandeis,
I am sorry it has taken so long for me to reach out to you again since our last talk. The world changed drastically over such a short time and I found myself beset with work upon the Broken Isles alongside many, of which I am sure you could be counted as one; merely bad luck we have not come across one another yet perhaps.
I write though not to discuss our work, though that would be a topic of interest in person to be sure. I write instead to see what it is you have as time at your disposal. I have been relegated to the city of Dalaran to assist in overseeing movements of my forces across the Broken Isles and other attack needs with the Burning Legion’s allies. I feel safe in assuming that you have involvement in the action along the Broken Isles as well, and I am hoping that assumption proves correct.
We spoke once of sailing. Something of an enjoyable trip for fun. I am hoping you still have that same inclination as I find myself needing a reprieve from the work on the isles, and have a ship at my disposal. If you have the time and power to reach Dalaran, I would enjoy a day trip aboard the ship with you. I shall bring beverages, if you would care to see to food to eat, unless you are willing to catch our own food from the ship’s side.
Hope all is well, Alorinis
@sakialyn has me doodling at work. We have decided our Nature babies need to meet and become fast friends.
Vandeis is a great friend. One arm doesn’t stop Thor from showing just how much he appreciates the man’s input. There is no calm in the infirmary.
