I'm so sorry for your loss :( sending good vibes your way 💙🦋🌙 you'll be ok *hugs*
I appreciate it. At least I've still got Jackiepup for company, he snuggled up right away when I got home <3
Bad weather JJ and Chase
“Stay a little longer,” he demands, fanning himself. “Don’t want to go home!”
Chase laughs, tugging on his sleeve. “How do you manage to make signing look whiny?”
JJ sighs and sinks down against the park bench, further into the shade.
“Come on, buddy.” Chase grins and pulls at his shirt again, giggling. JJ doesn’t know how he manages to be playful with the sun burning down on them like this. The air is scalding hot. JJ wishes he didn’t have skin. “We gotta get home, we’ve been out for hours!”
“That’s cause I like the park,” protests JJ, brushing sweaty hair out of his eyes. “Nice breeze. Shady.”
“What, you’re too hot?”
“So hot,” he grimaces, repeating the sign twice. “Plus there’s a corgi over there.”
Chase laughs and turns around to see the corgi, watching it waddle like a furry swiss roll along the pavement. Its tongue is lolling out of its mouth and its owner promises it a break soon. The park is mostly dead today - even the most determined joggers have called it a day, but there are a few parents who needed to get their kids outside, distributing frequent juice and sitting on the benches in sunhats and glasses. Chase grins as a cool breeze, the only break from the heavy heat of the summer sun, ruffles across his tank top.
Jameson takes his distraction as an opportunity to put his forehead in his hand, if only for a second, fighting down a wave of nausea.
“Come on, buddy,” prompts Chase, turning back to his little brother and offering him a hand. “The walk home is nice too. Tell you what, let’s get back, and we can break out some lemonade and get started on dinner. Put Parks and Rec on in the background, huh? Come on, you little pansy.”
JJ straightens up indignantly, reaching out to push Chase’s arm, but his brother is darting away, laughing. “Gotta get up to catch me!”
Jameson rolls his eyes and tries not to smile, summoning his strength and rising to his feet. He even gives a half-hearted leap towards Chase, managing to give him a well-deserved smack in the shoulder before falling back towards the path that leads home.
“Ow, ow!” Chase whines in pretend agony, gripping at his shoulder. He watches JJ go, hoping to see him shake his head in mock frustration or turn around to give him a look. “The little man’s after me again, whatever shall I do?”
He sees Jameson pause, his hands on his hips. Chase giggles, expecting him to turn around, reprimanding, playful.
JJ puts his hands on his thighs.
JJ crumples to his knees.
JJ slides over and tumbles towards the ground -
“Jameson!” cries Chase, darting towards him. “Jamie, hey!”
He scoops him up in his arms. Jameson’s head lolls in his hands, his face gone a rotten-milk white, his tongue pressing against his bottom lip in a painful bid for air. His eyes stare right up at the sun, blank in the back of his head.
“Hey!” Chase pulls him closer and starts unbuttoning his shirt, tugging at the sweaty fabric. Fuck, why did he assume he was messing around when he said he wasn’t ready to go home? “Hey, JJ, answer me, man!” He gives him a little shake, picking up the back of his head and cradling him close, looking for any movement at all other than the slow, wheezing breaths rising from his chest.
But JJ’s had enough of the hot sun staring down at him. Heavy and delirious with heat, he can do nothing at all to answer the calls of his brother, so far off in the distance. His eyelids fall shut like garage doors, blocking out the terrible heat, and he slides into cooler dreams, limp as a fish in Chase’s hands.
“Please don’t cry.” with chase and Jackie please?^^ your writing is so good!!!
(Aaaa thank you V! 💙🌸💕🌺💞 )
Jackie didn’t know what he said wrong. Well, he must’ve done something. One minute he and Chase were having a great movie night, enjoying popcorn and extra cheesy pizza, and the next Chase had said he was going to the bathroom, and hadn’t come back in thirty minutes.
When Jackie’s concern had reached the a high enough level that he just had to check on him, he found a mess when he opened the door. Something ceramic had shattered, spraying a sticky lavender liquid across the counter and even onto the sink mirror—soap, Jackie realized. Chase was sitting in the bathtub, looking rather like he’d tripped over the edge and fallen into it. He was covering his face with his hands.
“Chase?” Jackie stepped into the bathroom cautiously. “Chase, are you okay? What happened?”
“Nothing, it-it’s nothing.” Chase’s voice sounded choked, and Jackie immediately knew it wasn’t “nothing.”
Jackie walked over, avoiding the shards of ceramic, and plonked down into the bathtub next to Chase. “Hey, if something’s wrong, you can tell me,” he said gently. Chase didn’t reply, but a sob escaped. Jackie’s heart cracked. “Hey, no, please don’t cry. What’s wrong? What happened?”
Chase finally uncovered his face, revealing his red-rimmed, puffy eyes. He wiped his nose on the long sleeve of his shirt. “It’s stupid...I just broke the soap dispenser. I g-guess it was kinda expensive, but I can jus’ clean it up an’ get a new one...it’s stupid, I’m sorry, I don’ know why I’m upset, I’m sorry—”
“Hey, hey, hey, no.” Jackie put his arm over Chase’s shoulder. “It’s okay. You don’t need to apologize.”
“I-I’m ruining your movie night.” Chase sniffed again, squeezing his eyes to prevent more tears. “You came all the way over here, an’ y-you’ve been having so much fun an’ I’m ruining it. Not even over somethin’ important, just a stupid, dumb mistake, you should’ve kept watching the movie, I would be fine catching up.”
“I think the point of a movie night is to watch it together, Chase.” Jackie tried to put a lighthearted note in his voice to lighten the situation, but Chase didn’t laugh. So Jackie dropped the jokey tone and leaned closer to Chase, squeezing him tight. “Look. It’s okay if you cry over something small. It’s usually a sign that you’ve been stressed or something lately, and that pushed you over the edge. It’s normal. And it’s okay.”
“But—but—” Chase looked at Jackie for the first time. His eyes were wet with unshed tears. “I’m getting in the way of your—”
“You are not getting in the way of, or ruining, anything,” Jackie said firmly. “Chase, I am your friend. I care more about you than I do about watching a movie. And if you’re upset, I want to help you feel better.”
A few more tears slipped out. “It’s just...don’t you want to watch...?”
“Not until you’re okay. Okay?” Jackie smiled. “Hey, how about I help you clean this up? Would that help?” After a silent moment, Chase nodded. “Alright. Let’s go get...I dunno, some washrags for the soap, and a broom. And maybe gloves. Just in case we brush across some smaller shards. Those are in your kitchen, right?” Another nod. “Okay. We’re going to stand up now. On the count of three. One...two...three.” Jackie climbed to his feet, Chase following, a little bit slower.
“You’re sure you’re...fine with this?” Chase asked.
“Of course I am.” Jackie reached over and grabbed Chase’s hand, squeezing it. “Now let’s clean up.”
Hi jelly^^ nice seeing you again! How are you and Sam doing? You guys ok?
Howdy!
We're alright! Been going to the beach a lot recently. It really cheers us up a lot!
And we always come home with a bunch of treasures (mostly beach glass) in my pockets. XD
Have you seen or ran into any other masked people that look like they could be from a different time or era jamie?
“Personally, no. The only masked folk I have seen in person have been Henrik and … the other one.” Jamie shivers. “However, since Henrik is so old, I would not be surprised to find others from his era or later.”
Jamie looks at the photos he printed out from Chase’s video. “Like these folk. The green one is obviously recent, but the other two… they do indeed look to be from a previous era. It is very… interesting.”
Jamie gently brushes a photo. “Poor Stacy…”
“You always know how to make me smile.” Me and huffle? If you can/want to of course^^
@huffle-dork is the creator of the Stream Buds Discord, and V is her sis~Days like these remind her why coming here is worth it, why going through everything is so, so worth it.
Today there is no mind control. Today there are no evil darks chasing them, there’s no risk, no injuries, no terror and questions, and long, exhausting ends. Today, it is normal, or as normal as things can be here. It’s a good normal, considering the other normal it could be, so it’s worth it.
An hour picking flowers from a garden that is never tended to, but always remains perfect, is worth it. Spending two hours carefully sorting through the flowers, pairing them up, and then slowly and carefully twining them together, is worth it. Traveling around the spacious house, never dusty or dirty but with no one cleaning it, to distribute the flower crowns is worth it.
But the most worthwhile is seeing the surprise on her sister’s face, the way her eyes travel from Vanessa’s up to her own head. She sets down her pencil to gently touch the flowers, layers of pretty pastel greens and blues, soft under her fingertips. The smile that follows is radiant, so deeply genuinely grateful that Vanessa has to look down. She’s received these looks all days, but this is different. This is her sister, and her heart soars.
“You always know how to make me smile,” Huffle says, and then pulls her properly into the library loft.
She didn’t make herself a crown, so Huffle draws her one, intricate light lines and carefully folded edges. It’s beautiful, colored oh so carefully, and Vanessa is glad it’s made of paper. She can wear it over and over again, put it next to her things, hold it when times get rough.
It’s a reminder it’s all worth it, and she loves it.
Happy birthday dude! Sorry that I'm a day late >_> hope you had a good day and ate lots of cake🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈
It’s okay, I still appreciate it! It was a really good day.
