Crows are known to represent transformation/transition. The myths surrounding them mark them as characters that bring awareness to change already occurring, and they’re mostly described as witnesses to events rather than actually being able to do anything

AND PURE VANILLA DOES THAT SOMETIMES!! HE TRANSFORMS, HE FIRST SHOWS UP AFTER DARK ENCHANTRESS RETURNS AND HE PLAYS WITNESS TO THE TRAGEDY OF WHITE LILY!! SO BY SYMBOLISM, CROW NILLA WORKS!! HE WORKS VERY WELL!!

Also visually I thought it was cool if he’s an albino crow and then had the actual black colors of a crow when as Truthless Recluse (to show that he’s lying to himself, I suppose)

I can’t draw birds or bird-like humanoids I’m sorry for the butchering

I also. Could not resist drawing crow Nilla and bat Vamp together so you get that, too

And then redraw of bird Nilla with his cape colors under cut because I thought it’d be cool if his wings replaced his cape

I love the version of purevamp where it goes based on the narrative that no one sees Pure Vanilla’s flaws (due to how glorified and “can do no wrong” he is by the narrative) EXCEPT for Vampire, who’s well known for knocking sense into his friends and showing distaste for others’ lack of care for themselves

Vampire would keep him grounded. Vanilla in turn would keep him active

I have no new content and need to lock in on an essay and a half so have proof of my purevamp archive that contains every single cookie interaction, description, costumes, character chart available, voicelines, and Guild Museum item involving Pure Vanilla and Vampire

Throwback to around December when I was trying to figure out how to draw Shadow Milk and I thought it would be so great for the beast of deceit to wear a mask and even bought new colored pencils just for him (+ Vanilla Wine doodle with him)

Also have the time I was losing it over the jester references bc I used to study the holy trinity of pirates, jesters, and knights (whole thing, not the point. You can kinda figure out which of the 3 is the favorite by the nickname in the server)

I’ve recently been thinking about PureVamp again (as if I ever stopped) and the possibilities of the dynamic between them if they had met pre-war (this going hand in hand with the hc that both Vampire and Alchemist are immortal and have been here a while)

Because imagine your husband promising you’ll be happily together the moment the war ends and then a minimum of 20 years (with the maximum being about nearly half a century) later he shows up again after you got told he died and says “hey sorry war’s not done yet”

I feel like that’d be a bit fucked up, ngl
