A lot of his choices prioritised “the little guy” and helping individuals, putting the more diplomatic decisions on the back burner because he doesn’t even pretend to have a clue what he’s doing in that regard. But being cast aside? That is something he knows, he’s hardly a saint but he wants to show compassion to those who are usually passed over. He also tries to pick options that will save people’s feelings if possible, even if he doesn’t particularly agree (such as people finding solace in the chantry). He will also let his bias towards mages and elves/elvhen history influence his decisions sometimes.

I think he would almost enjoy The Game if it didn’t have such dire consequences half the time- who doesn’t love a bit of posturing and gossip? That said in the company of Orlesians, he usually adopts an automatic defensive stance or tries to be charming (then pokes fun behind their backs).

His tombstone would say something like “incomplete”-  not having done enough, had enough, not having been enough.

i thought the same thing w the cat picture!! he was emperor ai of han dynasty, and his lover was dong xian. the story (love of the cut sleeve) came from when they were sleeping on the same strawmat, ai had to get up but didnt want to disturb dong, so he cut off his sleeve :')
