Yay, another drawing completed and this one took only 2-3 hours! :D A true relief compared to the bday cake pic that took me +8 hours. I think we have a new record people. ^^
Anyway. Sleepy atem is sleepy. And yeah, he's lent Anzu one of his wristbands, after she's told him she liked them. He thought that was only fair after the cartouche she's bought for him back then in the Cairo airport. ^^
i mean of course i would ship atem/tea
HE’S a dead spirit with no body of his own who is mostly honorable and noble except for when he sometimes sets people on fire
SHE fell in love with his voice like some phantom of the opera gothic romance
there’s literally no way it would end happily outside of fanfiction
the series ended like ten years ago
and there’s like eighty billion ship names but this is literally the least popular one??? i don’t know what to call it help me out
I hope we see Anzu's reaction to seeing Atem again when he returns in the film at least, even if we end up not getting any Revolutionshpping hints or moments. I am fairly certain the pharaoh will come back. Witnessing Atem's expression when he sees her would be great too if he gets to react to his friends individually.
White Pedal: Hi Chocolate:) Do you have any headcanons for pharaoh Atem and queen Teana?
Hey there. ‘u’ I never tire of your questions; they always help me in sorting through the mess that is my mind haha.
My headcanons regarding Vanish/Statushipping are kinda different from those I generally see, tbh. First off, because I’ve never seen Teana as a queen — that is, as the Pharaoh’s Great wife. Teana would be a badass queen, but I’ve always found her dynamics with Atem to be more interesting if she occupies a different status from his. Whether Atem is the one at the social ladder top, or Teana; the differences between their social standing is what make their relationship/friendship precious in my mind. Teana doesn’t have to be a commoner for that matter; just her being a dancer, a noblewoman or a priestess could do the trick. Of course, a reversal universe where Teana is the high Queen and Atem’s a priest/nobleman/dancer would be positivilicious, too. In the same respect, I prefer having Téana of foreign nationality because of the interesting contrasts in cultures and mindsets; you know it’s my thing. ;)
My favorite AU where I like to explore my 10kGB headcanon pool has Teana as a foreign royal/dancer/Atem’s waifu. A pretty common plot setting, except in there, Teana isn’t Atem’s queen, but rather, his favorite wife. Pharaohs had seldom only one spouse in ancient Egypt.
Now, regarding the relationship itself;- Teana is one of the few people who don’t fear disagreeing with the Pharaoh and expressing it straightforwardly (in private, of course, since she isn’t stupid.). Teana has a lot of controversial ideas and has no problem discussing them with Atem, challenging him and his beliefs. The two love to indulge in random discussions (and arguments) about random things. - They both long for something in life: true freedom and adventure. Excitement. However, Atem’s duty prevents him from leaving his kingdom to explore the world, and the daughter they both have needs a stable environment at the palace (or so says Teana as *cough* a partial excuse to stay besides the friends she’s made in Egypt and the affectionately called weirdo who happens to be her husband). On Teana’s initiative, both content themselves with going out, in disguise, to the city to just experiment what it’s like to live as commoner.- Also, both feel a sort of kinship toward each other, due to being royals and knowing the burdens that come with it, though they don’t share the same views on the importance of duty. After all, Atem was shown in canon to be intent on always doing the ‘right thing’ — defeating Zork and sealing himself for Egypt’s sake, always respecting Yuugi’s boundaries and wishes in the modern world, never occupying his host’s body longer than necessary, and in the end, leaving for afterlife as expected of him. Anzu is another different story. While generally following the rules, she doesn’t mind breaking them for a greater purpose — much like illegally saving money to fund her trip to America. A lawful neutral character with a neutral good one; pretty much an interesting difference for interesting conflicts!- Because of the harem thing, the main conflict between them is of course focused on the complex nature of their relationship, which begins at first as super sexual to become a little deeper and, ultimately, difficult to pinpoint. As time goes on, Teana and Atem grow fond of each other, but the current circumstances surrounding them — his status as a Pharaoh; natural reserve and fear of endangering his kingdom by falling for someone (and thus making his wife and himself vulnerable to potential threats); while she is herself super confused about the nature of their feelings, makes it nearly impossible to evolve into real love. (Teana also kinda resents Atem for having other wives). Their relationship is the ultimate challenge for trust, acceptance and completion.
Thanks for your ask! Answering it was particular helpful to write this little drabble. I wish I could say more on the relationship, but my mind is too messy right now. `~`
in which ideas rush in and the otp muse works miracles
Because I’ve seen a possessive starters post on my dashboard, and just couldn’t resist the Vanishipping call. :PPrompt — “You belong to me”
xTheana was a rarity, this he knew.
It was not because of her looks. Yes, she was beautiful; just as all the spouses in the Royal Harem. But her charm — there was something more to it.
Perhaps, the Pharaoh reasoned as he drinks a sip of freshly imported and quite delicious wine, was this due to her bright personality, her dry wit and fire. Standing among the crowd of guests, a few miles ahead of him, she was talking with one of the noblewomen, chuckling at some joke told to her. The late afternoon glow of Ra was glistening on her pale skin, tinting her hair golden.
Was it her smile? Or perhaps, the way she strode elegantly in that trademark red dress of hers — the one she apparently chose not to bear today for the Nile flood celebrations, much to the King's regret, favoring instead something more elaborated and longer for the occasion. But then, beige tunics suited her well, too, giving the woman a regal look... Another sip. His gaze lowered on her (sadly) covered legs, remembering fondly the pleasant spectacle of them whenever she danced, enhanced by the soft twirl of a scarf in her hands.
But those hands, those hands which so deftly handled scarves, also loved to manipulate astrolabes and abacuses. She was quite the mystery, but then, the King still had the rest of his godly life to uncover the enigma that lingered underneath those blue eyes.
...Him and only him, that was. Not the General, not the Priests. Not the nobles whose eyes raked more often that not their lenghts over his wife's body during the feast — no doubt wondering which wonders hid beneath that beige dress of hers.
As he joined his wife in the group conversation, “You belong to me,” was the message his hand said, discreetly placed on the small of her back. Still smilng and telling jokes at her entourage, Theana didn’t comment on the possessive gesture.
She didn’t need to.
Her smirk and the way she tangled theirs fingers together when no one was looking; the sigh she happily let out once he seized her waist, later in the evening, to begin their own private celebrations in her — no, their bed. The way she almost purred when he traced the contours of her back, was well enough to tell of her opinion on the matter, and Atem was content with that, relishing, before sleep claims him, the soft echoes of her heartbeat just beneath the plane of her neck.
I hope there are Revolutionshipping moments in the new Yugioh film, Dark Side of Dimensions. Seeing as the teaser hints Atem returns via his shadow and Yugi wearing the puzzle, it wouldn't be farfetched to assume the pharaoh has already come back or will do so. A reunion might be on the cards (pun unintended) or at the very least we may see Anzu's thoughts on his return. It would be great to watch the pairing interact after six months of not seeing one another and find out what they have been up to respectively. Atem wearing the cartouche Anzu gave him would be a nice touch. I'm also hoping their feelings for each other are addressed or implied because I've always wanted to know if they were aware of how the other felt. Make it happen, Takahashi-sensei!
Pharaohs. Gotta catch ‘em all!
