Eyes flashed her way. He knew the voice, cool and clever in his ears, and didn’t need to look her way to put a name or face to the ring of her words. Still, he did, feeling the slightest twitch of a smile at the corner of his mouth, teeth showing where his lips were gently tugged apart. It was all he could do to not roll his eyes at the little dribbling nickname, but it came from a place of utter fondness, Jughead knew -- and that feeling was rather mutual between them. Despite the fact that their kinds were supposed to be mortal enemies, or however legend had it, he found that they fit together well, in whatever weird way they did. 

“Like a tooth ache,” he teased in reply, sly expression writing itself across his features as the sarcasm came easily on his tongue. A slight jerk of his head as he rose to his feet, moving to wrap his arms solidly around her in a rare hug. “Come back to finish me off, have you?”

They’re high on alcohol, adrenaline and magic and just so many things together all at once floating in a cloud of electricity around them when it happens.

It’s hard to tell who started it but the feeling of Evie’s lips pressing against his, their muffled laughs still echoing in the air mixed with the telltale metallic taste of blood (some lowlife wanker that had it coming, if you asked them) it’s not something he’s ever going to forget.

And for years to come people will ask “did you two ever...?” while letting the rest of it hanging around the air just to get a shrug and a vague answer of “we don’t work like that”

Because they didn’t really need to add romantic undertones to their dynamic. Lovers could come and go as they pleased, their bond was above that.

After that little demonstration of affection, with maybe two or three little pecks of the lips thrown around too, George looks at her with a grin, blood stilll dripping from the corner of his lip as he leans forward to plant a kiss of his own on the crown of her head amidst the threats of messing up her hairdo “Next one’s on me”

He wants to be a smartass. Offer a cliché quip about hardly noticing Evie was gone or say she’s not that important. But despite how much both of them know that the careless asshole facade he puts up isn’t actually an act, george still missed the fuck out of her.

“--And so that’s Seabrook!” Addison finished cheerfully with a clap rather proud with the introductory tour she’d given. Ever since Seabrook had begun opening it’s doors to more and more monsters Addison had been not so subtly and unofficially been nominated the official welcome committee/tour guide. Sure they’d had Zombies and Werewolves but Vampires had brought along a sort of unease that hadn’t been seen since the Zombies had first been integrated. The treatment off the bat was definitely better by the school but it was rather clear that students seemed to try to give the pair a birth of space. The white hair cheerleader assumed it had something to do with the whole feeding off of people thing that they had in common with the Zombies. “If you don’t mind me asking... umm how old are you?” She tried asking carefully, “I just heard about the whole not dying thing and I didn’t hear if you were like new or maybe trying out high school again or--” Addison trailed off with a shrug.

Her mother turned her back on her and, in response, Davina turned her back on the religion the woman had pushed on her at an early age. She’s a witch, she doesn’t need it.

Her head nods aggressively, eyes raising to meet the other girls. "Exactly, if she could survive that, then you know, we can survive anything." False hopes to try to get them through the rest of this year, then the next, until something brought them to an end, she guessed. It could work a little bit. Maybe more for Evie than it did for her, but even if that was all it did, that was worth it. "I mean. We're strong women! We can handle whatever the world throws our way and still make sure our nails look good."
