“ a flower-viewing festival...? oh, that’s the, um... ” she’s heard mentions of it throughout the week, but it was called something else too. she closes her eyes a moment to recall, before the memory strikes her, “ the hana... hanami, right? ” that was it!

coco’s rather excited just to be asked. it certainly seems like a good idea for them to go. after all, they’re missing out on the silver eve festival back home by being here, aren’t they? they can enjoy this one in its stead, though it’s hardly the same as helping tartah and his grandfather.

“ it sounds like it would be fun! we should go!! ” wait a second... “ ahh... hahah, that’s what you asked me... what i mean to say is, yes! i’d really like to go with you, master! ”

✿ “mmmm ♥ i missed this!!” the half-elf bends down to scoop up some water only to raise her arms high above her head and have it fall over on top her rounded shoulders, “i haven’t come to the water in a long time-- and i haven’t seen so many fireflies in even longer.”

the water isn’t deep, only touching her knees from where she stands, but its pleasantly warm still from the sun that has set long ago. the world looked more... peaceful at night with fire flies dancing about the beach front like tiny candles blinking. its really pretty, she thinks, and it didn’t seem to bother her that they were essentially surrounded by patches of bugs. no, they were more like twinkles of magic surfing along with the gentle waves of a peaceful night. like aska’s gift to undine.

"say, qifrey--” martel pulls wet hair to drape over to one shoulder, looking over it at the man back at the beach, “care to join, or are you content with watching??”

“ wooooooooow~!! master, it’s just like a fairy tale!! a castle, fairies, and this big fancy ballroom! it... it’s-- ” wonderful, fantastic, amazing, spectacular-- coco couldn’t possibly choose which word to say, let alone put it into words at all. she’s in awe, but that’s plain to see with how her eyes sparkle. “ it’s so fancy, don’t you think? ” she twirls around, bounding off ahead of him.

“ i’ve never been in a castle before. there’s one in the mountains near the village, but the festivals were always outside... ” coco glances around, catching glimpses of people dancing and whiffs of all the various food set out for them to eat. when paired with all the noise, it’s any wonder how it’s only taken her until now to feel the faintest bit overwhelmed, with how desperately she’s wanted to take it in all at once. maybe it is a bit too much-- coco pauses, shaking her head and rubbing her eyes to give them a short reprieve. “ but this is so different! it’s so exciting!! ”

We'll bake a cake together later, but for your present...I got you this!” In a bag he has slung behind his back is a fluffy white tube-shaped body pillow, that at the top has two felt eyes sewn into it, and small felt arms sewn onto its stomach. "I know it's not exactly a brushbuddy, but it kind of looks like one, does it not?" / may 25th is coco’s birthday!

“ i-it’s so big!! ” she can’t help but blurt out the obvious, her face absolutely beaming all the while. that doesn’t answer his question, but coco is so steeped in awe that she can’t do much else but stare for a few moments. when she is finally able to compose herself, she shakes what amazement she can from her face to finally respond.

“ i-- i mean, it does! it’s so cute!! c-can i hold it? ” it’s a silly thing to ask, considering it’s her gift, but she’s still in a bit of a daze. nevertheless, the pillow does make its way into her grasp. she’s quick to wrap her arms around it and squeeze it tight, nuzzling her face against it gleefully. “ ahhh-- it’s so soft, too!! ” her voice might be muffled, but it’s clear as day how delighted she is. she twirls around with it in her arms and laughs, only stopping to peek out from around it and relay to him her gratitude.

“ i’m so happy... thank you, master!! ”

“ r-right! you only really call them weeds when they grow someplace you don’t want them to, don’t you? ” coco feels a bit guilty over her choice of words now. she certainly didn’t mind coming across it. it’s a welcome change amidst the scenery, poking up from the pavement as if to greet them. “ they sure can grow anywhere though... i don’t think i’d ever be able to grow between stones like this... ” by the looks of it, it sneaked its way through the space between the pavement-- it’s a rather admirable feat.

“ ...but if it keeps growing here, it’s sure to get trampled on. ” in the middle of a walkway like this, on a busy day it’d be helpless against the sea of people walking through here. it has done its best to grow for this long, to be a victim of things out of its control feels too cruel a fate for the thing. “ i wish we could put it someplace safer, but i don’t think these stones will budge... ”

Sweeping her message away with one movement of her giant paw, she proceeded to write a new one in the dirt.

‘Thou smelleth new. New people art prone to getting lost hither.’

The man’s last question is not an uncommon one, so she already has an answer ready.

‘I hast lived since the early Age of Fire, raised by a Lord-Knight. Unfortunately, I doth not possess the gift of tongues, being born a wolf, but I understandeth thee perfectly.’

She lowers her head to look at him head on to gauge his reaction. How uncommon for someone to be so utterly unafraid of her. Maybe it has something to magical scent he has clinging to him. Normally, she tries to stay away from adult humans, but this one is very non-threatening and even spoke to her like a person.

‘May I escort thee as a Knight of Spirale? Whither art thou bound for?’
