Bastet’s Ice Cream Apricot Creme is one of the few items that interested me in the NAVAliday release. I don’t have too many scents from NAVA as honestly, I have trouble navigating their catalog and figuring out what their notes might possibly be, but hopefully when the new site opens in 2017, everything will be easier to parse through.
Notes: The original Bastet’s Ice Cream and raw California Apricot peel, Apricot Stone Oil and jackfruit creme, combined into raw Ugandan and Tongan Vanilla beans, sifted of flecks and the beans are left to age in the oil. And for clarity, Bastet’s Ice Cream notes are Vanilla Crystalline Cream, Butter accord, Caramel Accord, French Vanilla Bean Absolute, Vanilla Milk accord, Vanilla Orchid, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Sugar.
In the bottle: This is mostly apricot, although really to me it could be clementine or even sort of peachy. If I were literally blind testing, I might not get that this was an ‘ice cream’ scent, but just a very gourmand fruity perfume. It’s really quite lovely.
Wet: Apricot cream. This definitely has an ice creamy smell, but almost smells like a sherbet to me.
Dry down: This stays creamy, but the apricot fades quite quickly (about 10 minutes) on me. In 15 minutes, even the ‘ice cream’ note is gone, and this is a hazy vanilla.
Sillage/Longevity: This is a skin scent on me, like most NAVA has been so far. As for longevity, the apricot portion of the scent evaporates fairly quickly and then since this has a Crystalline base, evaporates even further into a barely-detectable hazy vanilla floating above the skin within 30 minutes. After that... it’s gone on me.
Verdict: Awesome smelling in that I’d devour my own arm if I could, but ultimately this doesn’t last so I wouldn’t buy a full bottle. To be honest, I feel the same way about my purchase of Crystalline. Something about this base just gets completely absorbed by my skin so quickly. Oh well. I would definitely consider destashing this though to someone on whom it would last.
