🧑‍🦰 - Have they ever dyed their hair? Ever cut it themself?

She once cut off her long hair with a dagger on impulse, looked in the mirror, decided she liked it, then went to a salon to get it refined.

🏳️‍🌈 - What do they identify as? What are their pronouns?

Rey grew up identifying as a woman, but it never felt...completely right? She never bothered with typically ‘feminine’ things, never liked how dresses felt on her. She appreciates attractive women and men, but never felt like she wanted to be either. She is just...Rey.

It doesn’t cause distress, just stays a question in the back of her mind. Then one day it clicks. She chops off her hair on impulse, goes home to her wife. Anni takes one look at her, smiles. "You look dashing," she says. Dashing. Rey thinks it over. Yeah. Yeah, they like the sound of that.

💓 - What are some signs they’ve fallen for someone? How do they show their affection?

Other than offering to kill her beloved’s enemies, she makes space for them in her home. She grew up as a street urchin, and being given a home out of genuine affection was the greatest gift she’d ever received. It taught her that love = home and the safety it provides, so she’ll give it to that special someone.

The first thing they did with Anni upon arriving in Balmora was bring her to meet mom, and get her set up in their home.

👪 - What’s their relationship with their parents like?

Rey’s very close to their mom. Adopting them basically catapulted Llethasi to the top of Rey’s ‘Very Favourite People’ list. They argue, they play at being exasperated with each other, but they love each other very much and would charge into Oblivion to keep each other safe. One of their favourite things to do together is sit by the fire and have heart-to-hearts.

Blue. Not of the sky, but her wife’s eyes.

💤 - What do they absolutely need to have to fall asleep?

Wife’s tiddies as pillows. A sense of safety. She is very conscious of her surroundings, and will only sleep where no one can sneak up on her, or she can defend herself if jumped. Having someone around helps a lot.

🍪 - How well can they bake?

Average. But they’re banned from baking after those fuckin tiddy cookies.

☕ - Coffee or tea?

Coffee gives her a better kick.

🍽️ - What’s their favorite food?

Tiddies in her mouth in her mouth They like warm and hearty stews, with generous portions of meat and potatoes or ash yams. They also have a fondness for handpies - what Llethasi had given them while they were still living on the streets.

Just be friendly and reliable. Buy her some drinks, don’t pry into her business, watch her back. Oh, and be a decent person. She might be an assassin, but hit a beggar or abuse your kid and she’ll break your nose.

Bonus Anni pov! Take care of Rey. Stitch the tears in her clothes, keep her space in the house tidy, make coffee just the way she likes it, hold her til she falls asleep. It’s the little things that makes her feel like she’s a part of Anni’s life.

Specifically, her ability to pull off spells without prior experience in In Light & Shadow. She has a natural affinity for magic, but never bothered to study it. I’d planned to explain this in another fic (but who knows when that will happen lol)

Rey is an unwanted product of an illicit affair between a Redoran warrior and Telvanni wizard. Her Telvanni mother kept her birth a secret, and abandoned her as a toddler with her mind wiped of memories. Rey inherited her mother's ruthlessness and talent for magic, both of which helps her much as a Morag Tong assassin.

In this chapter, Vestra tries to invade Lana’s mind in a fit of anger and gets smacked for it. Her reaction might seem...pretty jarring? Given that she’s in ‘hella pissed Sith’ mode one moment, then verges on a breakdown after the slap. Two reasons.

One, she has a deeply-ingrained belief (and fear) that she will inevitably hurt the people close to her. She has convinced herself that she can and will dispose of anyone so long as it serves her purposes. She had, after all, killed her parents (by accident and coercion) and countless more after that for her own benefit.

Then her crew happened. Lana happened. They cared for her, she started to care for them in return, and buried this facet of herself because she couldn’t bear to face it. Then she slipped, and hurt Lana in anger - and all her fears came crashing down on her.

Second, she was a victim of an abusive relationship. Her first partner (and the last, before Lana) saw in her a vulnerable ex-slave to be exploited. Ves was hurt physically and mentally for years before she was stabbed and left to die in a tomb by her partner. So Lana hitting her definitely set her off in a bad way.
