I wanted to make a bag for my Dungeons and Dragons stuff. The colowork is inspired by Wather in the Sky by Ghost. I'm really happy with how it came out. The granny square pattern can be found on ravelry here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/northern-diamond-square

Onion Skin Dye Experiment, One.

The yarn is still drying, I'll make a separate post with the final color. But:

Simmered 1 big bag of mixed red&yellow onion skins for half an hour. Let cool to room temp (helped by ice cubes). Ran 2 skiens of 100% merino superwash under tap water, added to dye bath. I twisted one back into a skein and then twisted the skein onto itself again to create a varigated pattern. I simmered the yarn for 1hr, and then let it sit to room temp. Then i unwound the twisted skein, washed both skeins in the sink, and hung them to dry. I absolutely love this color and will definitely be doing it again.

Hit a wall

The two active projects stumped me - and I just stopped. Then, this past month, people around me inspired me to get back to them.

Pauline started knitting because my stuff was so cool.

When I wore my shawl, Joanne said her knitting looks like...something she made. But mine looks...real.

When I asked Tom to tell me a story, he said, "when I ride my bike to work, my feet are warm because I have the best wool socks".

So I picked up my Stone Socks and set to figuring out the problem with those damned gussets. Wow. I love knitting socks.
