A person should be able to just breathe.
And I can't breathe.
I believed in the sadness,
But I was hoping someone
Would prove me wrong.
Holding all this love
Out here, in the hall.
Disappearing and further up and spinning out again
Up and further up she goes,
Up and out of the bed,
Up and out of the bed and down the hall
Where she stops for a moment and turns and says,
"are you still here?"
And then reaches high
And dangles herself
Like a child's dream
From the rings of Saturn.
The Spectator
The figures of the painting have come to life to talk to you.
Should you watch the brilliant play unfold,
Or shall you film it on your mobile phone?
Should you cease waving the net,
Or shall you acquire a bigger one?
The stars were never meant to be photographed,
They are meant to be glimpsed at from
Millions of miles away.
Smoke was never meant to be caught,
Only gazed at as it rises from the fire.
Pay attention to the hitch in their step,
Watch their hand stretch to shake another’s.
Write it all down,
Do not forget the important facts.
One day it may be a painting
That comes to life,
Or a play looped on a screen.
-P.C.
I don't have the soft-spoken voice of a mother.
I don't have kind eyes.
My hands are claws,
My teeth are sharp,
My skin is rough.
I'm all wrong.
