#Witch Hunt Berlin by Various & Gould
Yesterday I was having fun searching for posters installations by artist duo Various & Gould called #WitchHuntBerlin. During the process of printing, a particular color was used that allows – as if by witchcraft – the ignition of matches on the actual posters. During the opening night (last night) at Open Walls Gallery you could also do it with the actual artworks. That was awesome. I start to like gallery shows again...
But earlier during the day I was on a witch hunt on the streets of Berlin-Kreuzberg district. I have never been a person who follows strict rules or recipes...The address of the first "witch" to find was disclosed on the website http://www.witchhunt.eu/. But on arrival as by "witchcraft" I took the wrong street. As I was walking and not seeing anything I started having doubts and thought -oh I better double check-...at that very moment I saw a beautiful piece by James Cochran (aka JimmyC) featuring the divine feminine ...Something I did not expect to find...So the witch hunt started for me with a magic gift !
The artists have featured 13 (magic number in witchcraft) #wantedwitches among them Snowden, blogger Malala Yousafzai, Nadia from Pussy Riot, Lena Wachowski former Larry Wachowski, gay rapper Lelf, artist Marina Abramovic, Liberian feminist activist Mae Wazango, all courageous people facing intolerance, censorship "in today's supposedly enlightened society where free thinking people are still being scapegoated and demonized by the public".
