It's about time I drew my favorite girls from the Edge Chronicles, so have some Maris, Varis and Magda!
My girl Varis!!!
dude your art is gorgeous and thank u so much for that quint picture. I loved the edge chronicles as a kid but had like. completely forgotten they existed???? I saw your art and now I've bought the twig trilogy and am so excited to read them again
thank you so much!! have fun with your re-read!! I know she’s not from the twig trilogy, but here’s Varis Lodd, who I always thought was rad:
do not repost
varis lodd from edge chronicles
i’ve been thinking about the edge chronicles again recently and i both really want and really don’t want the edge to develop tumblr at some point in the future because of the possibility of posts like this:
swipe-left-on-tilder: if you cried in history class when you found out how varis lodd died youre a lesbian phraxfucker69: i cried when i found out and i’m a straight guy! everyone should appreciate how awesome Varis Lodd was! swipe-left-on-tilder: earth and sky will you please leave the gays some jokes of their own harold hammerheadearthscholar: This is even more nonsensical if you actually do in-depth reading about Varis Lodd. Due to the sack of the Great Library of New Undertown, we unfortunately don’t have many primary sources about Lodd herself, but from the few texts that do survive, as well as some early Third Age barkscrolls, it’s heavily indicated that Lodd had romantic relationships with women. The Second Age of Flight was actually far more accepting of homosexuality than we currently make it out to be; homophobia didn’t become societally ingrained until about two hundred years ago during one of Great Glade’s expansionist-revisionist periods. We even think we know the name of (one of?) her girlfriend(s?)! One surviving letter from Varis Lodd mentions a woman named Gramina Foxglove (which sounds like a Second Age cloddertrog name, so this was interspecies, too!) in some ... pretty glowing terms, especially in the sentence “Gramina should be happy to know that I’ve discovered a new species of epiphytic flower, which I’ve named in her honor and will be bringing back for her.” tl;dr VARIS LODD IS GAY CULTURE phraxfucker69: so this post has been making the rounds again and history is great and all but uh i’d like you all to know that i came out as trans last year so it turns out i actually am a lesbian and OP was right all along swipe-left-on-tilder: i kinda want to gloat now but in all seriousness congratulations tumblr user phraxfucker69 tripweed: Character development
literally the only reason to hate the edge chronicles is the whole
