I love it when @vashito’s wrestling OCs show up on my dashboard and I hope there’s more story coming! I really wanted to draw Tak since her design is so fun.
So this is how I do fan art now! One of the comics I'm reading right now is "88" by Vash (or @vashito as he's known here). It was purely an epiphany moment of, "Oh hey. I could make 88." And then I did it.
Her outfit is true to her design--with the addition of a big fat purple cocoon coat. Because it gets cold in space. Plus some headphones so she can tune out LEM, and an energy drink because this girl needs some caffeine.
So 88 is ready to float around in space, playing video games with her new BFF S.E.T.A. (Nyahaha.)

I'm glad I went with my impulse! She offered a few new challenges for me, which is always rewarding. Got to tinker with patterning for her bralette and t-shirt. Her t-shirt was an unexpected challenge... the proportions just weren't working so I had to remake it and tweak it about 3 times. Also painting her iconic "88" on the fabric was a bit of a nail-biter (I did not want to cut the pieces a 4th time, haha). But it all came out clean~
Also I got to do some modification for her face and hair; changed her eyes to red, muted her lip-tone, and plugged in some red for her hair as well as giving her bangs.
Working on 88 made me realize just how rare Asian Barbies are though. I only have like... 4, including 88. Just makes me keep an eagle eye out for them at the thrift stores!
(It seems that part of my process for doll customization at the moment is, "Oh hey. I could make XYZ." And then I do it, haha. Purely impulse based.)
