Sometimes library books have the most interesting things in them.
Percy isn't sure when he turned it into a game to check out a book and look through it. The game goes like this: if there's something of mild interest in the book, he reads the first chapter. If it has something really interesting, he reads the first five chapters, and if the book is empty, he returns it the next day in favor of a new book. It's his own personal lottery in a way (and almost literally, too, because he's found money in books on several occasions), and it keeps his mother off his ass about reading more to try and push through his dyslexia. Unless you get those reading scores up, you'll never make it into a good college, Percy.
He didn't have the heart to tell her he wasn't planning on going to college anyway.
In this round of the game, he grabs his latest book off the cart full of displaced novels and encyclopedias, not even entirely sure if it's been checked back in yet. It's bound in black leather, some Greek letters scrawled across the front with the words A Guide to the Primordial Gods of Greek Mythology beneath the foreign letters "Boring," he breathes to himself, but he totes the thick book around until he decides it's the one, beaming at the elder woman behind the counter who swipes his card with a cocked eyebrow. She knows about his game, knows that he hardly ever finishes a book he checks out, but she's never said anything about it before. He figures she thinks it's interesting at the very least.
Something's itching at Percy to open the book before he even makes it out of the library, so he cracks open the spine and thumbs through the pages, drawing his bottom lip between his teeth. Muse is blaring at him through the earphones of his iPod, but for some reason he can't even seem to hear it over his pulse. This has to be some sort of cosmic joke--and it must get even more amusing to the asshole deity when a slip of paper flutters from between the Bible-paper-thin pages and settles at Percy's feet.
It's a phone number.
Percy swallows hard.
Why the hell would someone leave their phone number in a book--especially one about Greek mythology of all things? Maybe someone else was supposed to check the book out and get the phone number. Too bad, he thinks with a scoff, turning the piece of paper over in his hand a few times. It has some area code that Percy doesn't realize, but something--something--tells him to give it a try. Just text the number, find out why it's in the book. Maybe he won't be disappointed--or maybe they'll ask him to check the book back in and put the number back in there.
He sucks in a breath through his nose and slides his thumb across the screen of his phone, typing the numbers into the address section of the new text message window.
[ txt to xxx-xxx-xxxx ] This is going to sound really stupid, but I found this number in a book and something told me to text it in case this needs to make it to somebody important...
[ txt to xxx-xxx-xxxx ] So uh. Hi.
[text]: Haha, no. I’m not giving it back.
text: ill burn your cabin down if you dont.

Shuffle Shuffle. "Ugh." Shuffle. "Hmmmm."
Blue irises stared at the ceiling as the young woman played with her hair, braiding and un-braiding it. Sigh. Anna flopped onto her stomach and buried her face into her pillow, letting out a frustrated moan. She then glanced out the window at the dark blue sky. What time was it...?
Anna had been rolling around in her bed for what seemed like hours. Normally once her head hit the pillow, she was gone. Anna was a very deep sleeper, and when she was tired, nothing could keep her from drifting off.
Not tonight, however.
For some un-explainable reason, Anna simply could not fall asleep. This frustrated her to no end. She hated being sleepy during the day!
Deciding that flopping around would not do her any good, Anna sat up, set her feet on the floor, and pushed herself out of bed. Maybe a walk would help. Walks always made it easier to organize her thoughts. The redhead tiptoed quietly down the halls and to the painting room. She shut the door gently behind her, and walked over to the window on the right side of the room, across from the paintings. She threw open the curtains to let in some light, just enough so she could admire the artwork. She continued to walk around the room, allowing her hand to brush the golden picture frames. Then something caught her eye.
In the corner of the room, she could have sworn she saw something move. Almost as if the shadows themselves were dancing. Narrowing her eyes, Anna took a tentative step forward. "H-hello...?" She called, sincerely hoping there would be no answer.

welcome to the smartphone era, di angelo
For being a good prankster, you had to be a good observer, or that's what Connor liked to think, because every person was different and they got annoyed by different things and Connor liked to make 'personalized' pranks, though general pranks were good as well, but this wasn't about pranks. He wasn't as stupid to prank Nico Di Angelo anymore since him and Travis painted Cabin 13 pink.
(Nico looked upset, but Connor thinks it was a good change for such a gloomy Cabin.)
He noticed that Nico looked confused now, since all the technology uprising at Camp, in the Big House they had a Wii now, everyone that could had a cellphone, Aphrodite children were now happy because they could finally get instagram and everyone was doing dumb shit because 'For the Vine'. Maybe Nico had never got a phone? Poor kid.
So, Connor decided that he was going to show Nico the wonders of the smartphone, especially since his mom rewarded him for 'Not going to the police station yet' and he got an iPhone 5! And Travis got a samsung galaxy, hat a bastard.
Regardless, he decided to try to scare Nico (Because the son of Hades did it often, though maybe not on purpose) and teletransported behind him just to yell in a very happy-go-lucky tone.
