Holmes and Watson reunite in Hunt for the Tiger (The Empty House for The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson 1980)

Note the mourning ribbon that Watson is wearing in his lapel - that’s what he’s twisting off while smiling up at Holmes in the last panel. 

Also, there were happy tears from both Holmes and Watson. 

Russian Holmes is the nyan cat to the pre-raphaelite unicorn that is BBC Sherlock. Just imagine if any of this happened in TEH for BBC Sherlock ...
