Alright we just skipped over years of Aizawa’s life in a single page, okay, sure. I was just joking about catching up to where the flashback started, but apparently we’re doing exactly that.

Alright, let’s not comment on the good two panels on the bottom left, and focus on how much of a self-inflicted hell Aizawa’s life was after that. Good lord somebody just hug him already. And what worries me the most is that one on the top

Aizawa just had a sleeping bag and a luggage with clothes with him on his apartment. He has no furniture, nothing at all, because he lives solely to fight and to do his duty as a hero. He doesn’t need comfort or personal belongings because he has no need for it, since it is implied he doesn’t even intend to survive at all

Could it be that this was just his new apartment and that’s why he didn’t had anything yet? Sure, probably, but I don’t believe it. This- This was the most worrisome that Aizawa’s backstory ever got. This single image is pretty much confirmation to me that he is indeed a death-seeker.

It seems like Furuhashi woke up and choose violence, because Jesus Christ this shit right here hurt me. A lot.

Not only Aizawa pushing himself beyond his limit under a misguided belief that if he trains and trains and don’t care about his own well-being he’ll eventually be good enough to never let a tragedy like that ever happen again, fulled by survivor’s guilt and probably some amount of death-seeking tendencies, but also the way his relationship with Mic was framed.

They seemed to have that odd friendship back in the main series, where you didn’t knew how they were still friends since they are vastly different and all that, not to say how they are so close- and as it turns out, they aren’t. They aren’t close, and in fact they probably aren’t even that much of friends after what happened.

They stick together, and Mic certainly tries to show that they are friends, but there’s a rift that showed up that can’t be mended, the loss of Shirakumo left a void, and the only thing that is still keeping them “close” is probably the memories of when they used to be friends.

I did wonder how long it took Mic to heal from his loss, but now I see that he probably never did, just like Aizawa. The difference is that Mic is a performer, and he doesn’t let people think that there is something wrong with him, he puts a show so everyone thinks he’s happy and all that, but he isn’t.

He was affected just as much as Aizawa did, he never healed, and, in the worst case scenario, he probably holds some resentment to Aizawa. Worst case scenario, both of them think that Aizawa was to blame for letting Shirakumo die.

Oh okay, another timeskip, fuck it, the flashback will only stop when we catch up to where it begun, so we’ll just fast-forward until that happens.

Also, this was the first time this whole arc that we saw Aizawa’s hair doing the “thing”, meaning that my theory is probably correct, an before he could only slow down a quirk’s activation, and now after that much training he finally was able to actually shut it down completely. Even Mic was probably not aware that he got to that level already.

Ah, now I get it, why that tragedy happened. Midnight didn’t want to let go of little Sushi, so she arranged to get rid of Shirakumo, thus breaking up the idea of the agency that was gonna foster him, being so the person to take care of him
