VBS Log Day 5
Pen Day!
VBS 2019
Once again I thank God for the opportunity to teach kids yet again this year. Happy I could give each kid a copy to remember the fun times. Want to know the names of them?

The sky looked like a painting tonight! • VBS 2019 is officially over! (And thank goodness for that) This last week has been insanely hectic and a roller coaster of emotions. Many things went wrong, yeah, but a lot of things went right. The smiles on those kids’ faces and their bright, loud voices really made all the stress and anxiety worth it. There is so much I want to write and talk about, but I wouldn’t be able to fit it all in a caption. So I think I will simply say this: I’m always asked why I work with kids, why they seem to gravitate to me, and why I work in youth ministry despite not being religious. I will answer those questions in order. 1. I work with kids because they are a big source of light in this world that is full of darkness. Seeing their faces and making them smile or giggle is the most amazing feeling ever. If I can make a kid smile at least once, I feel fulfilled as a source of kindness and positivity in their life. Second, I’ve never really pondered in it before this week, but I do have an invisible beacon over my head that attracts the youngins. I believe it’s because I know how it feels to not be safe, to not feel happy and to wish you didn’t exist. I’ve been through hardships a lot of kids are still facing, and I’ve been through other experiences that give me insight I wouldn’t have otherwise. I am a safe person to talk to about anything, and they know that somehow before even talking to me. The last question is really simple. I consider myself much more spiritual, as I’m not a fan of rules made by man that don’t make sense with God’s vision of humanity. I work in youth ministry because watching these intelligent little monsters become so excited and filled with joy when learning about God reminds me of my younger self. I’m paying it forwards to give that same feeling of happiness to the kids that I felt growing up. • End of rant. In short, I love these kids, and all of the turmoil and troubles we had were worth it in the end. The kids had a blast.
