being in bright haven ever since the start of his life has somehow washed away his dhampir behaviours -- having not met his father since birth didn’t quite help. growing up with a human for a mother and a mundane human lifestyle didn’t shape him up to be the perfect dhampir to string along with their bunch. though, with his instincts, ace would tell if someone bleeds the same blood as him despite not knowing too much; much less, feeding on an actual human. he just... couldn’t do that.
with his shift practically over and him being a night stroller, he clutched a burger tightly in his hand, taking a few bites after the hunger had savoured him up at the bar. standing underneath the dimly lit street light, he could feel his heart beat irregularly. something was just up -- but he couldn’t tell exactly what.
facing something foreign after a long shift at the bar was something he dreaded. albeit his uneasy feeling, ace tried to inhale and exhale deeply - and hoped that the fact that he was feeling highly uncomfortable yet relieved at the same time was something that was in his head. fuck - it couldn’t be that a vampire would be in his presence.
careful steps lurking around the hauntingly quiet area, he still made sure to keep his burger securely wrapped; what are you supposed to do when you don’t get paid much to have fancy meals and you refuse to feed on human blood just to get through each day? you savor the fuck up out of the meal you can actually afford. eyes darted around under the darkness - oh was his dhampir abilities aiding him, sometimes, his night vision works too well when he wished it didn’t.
“... anybody out there?” calling out with his voice quivering slightly, he cleared his throat and stood his ground. if he was lucky, he would be talking to himself and the night would be over.
little did he know.
