Winona Fornever - "VCR Head"
With "VCR Head," his first outing under his new Winona Fornever identity, Dunedin singer-songwriter and bedroom producer Adrian Ng (also known for his work as Mavis Gary, and in Trick Mammoth) interlaces classic pop melodies with psychedelic folk-rock structures and a lo-fi, but not too lo-fi aesthetic. New Zealand gothic edges notwithstanding, there is a sense of escapism and playfulness at work here that is undeniable.
