“ER was packed last night.” It wasn’t entirely a lie as she allowed the crude business man to pull her petite frame flush against him. His closeness suddenly awoke her senses and she tipped her head to the side in an attempt to avoid eye contact. Anything she supposed was better than fixing a permanent glare upon her features every time he used that word. They stood together in the back near his popular VIP section.
She wasn’t the best liar, but she had learned quickly when dealing with him. “I over slept.” That wasn’t a lie either, but a girl like her had to keep her secrets locked tight. Especially after the crazy evening she had the night before. Idly, fingers came up to touch the collar around her neck.
“I’m...sorry.”
She wasn’t, and they both knew it.
