i've been chugging along at all the hermit portraits for hadm but i just had to participate in this special day as well :3 i miss the chaotic team canada housemates

for vdhau: i dunno if this has been answered before, so i’m sorry if i’m just repeating stuff
in canon, how did norman discover his powers? like, shawn got his when evan almost got isekai-ed, but nobody else’s power origins have really been explained, so i was just kinda curious
ALSO! your fic and your whole au is genuinely so amazing. its consumed my brain /pos i don’t really know how to put it in words but just know that i wanna eat your work, in the best way possible
it has not been answered yet, no! i havent talked about it publicly yet, but i did intend to mention it eventually.
norman gains his powers when he was invited to a party one night and evan, quite surprisingly, didn't show up. with nobody else to shield him from the mortifying ordeal of Social Interaction, he just sat in a corner balled up and... suddenly, he sunk into the ground! norman didn't even realize that he was underground because he was having such a Time with the lack of sounds around him and a nice peaceful mood until evan finally showed up and called him out :]
i've actually come up with a couple more power origins, but i haven't had the opportunity to mention them in the canon writing yet. we know that etho got his through being forced to do a magical girl dance, and beef got his power because etho threw a fork at him. keralis, on the other hand, got his mind control powers because he picked a fight with someone in his college days and was nearly about to get punched.
thank you for asking this, though! i hope to talk about origin stories in the future through oneshots once the main fic is finished :D
