Though it carries the Exa name and is from Dresden during the Soviet Bloc, the Exa1b was probably built by VEB Pentacon (it doesn’t have a C in the serial number or plastic parts so it is not a Certo model) and not #Ihagee.
The lens mount is the M42 and not the Exakta bayonet. I’m cool with that as there are a slew of M42 lenses out there to be found (Pentax and Tessar for example.) The Domiplan lens of this one gets the dander up on a lot of optical snobs but I avoid those types as much as possible.
The shutter speeds are working as they should and I scored it at a reasonable price.
I haven’t used a camera with a waist level view finder much. I am looking forward to taking for a spin.
