Okay, thinking up a lot of thoughts again about VG bc when am I not, but this time it's interactive! Yay! :D

Vecna's Generals is the biggest au idea I've ever conceived in fandom, and I want it to be as great as it can be. It began being written practically immediately after ST4, and has since gone through many changes due to its infinitely in-progress status.

The biggest change, surprisingly, is its devotion to continuity. Even after books, comics, and the releases of a play, spin-off, and final season, it remains set right after season 4 with all the new canon lore relatively ignored. There is very little I will be taking from season 5 going forward, and fuck TO85.

But with all the hell of ST5 simultaneously dying down and getting worse each second, I can't help but see more and more problems with canon. Some I know I'll have to address someday if I want VG to actually be good.

So, I call upon the residents of this gracious and most cherished hellscape! Bring forth any problems in Stranger Things canon that irk you about lore, continuity, characters, overall storytelling, any of it across any season! I shall think of an explanation as it would be in the VG universe and add it here, tagging you as well (unless requested otherwise). Comments, reblogs, asks, bring it on! Example query) Why does the air in the Upside Down suddenly stop being so toxic?

The UD is slowly acclimating to the RU. The Abyss doesn't exist in VG, and the yellowish landscape shown in Nancy's vision was what the UD used to look like. Biologically, the entire UD is drastically different, chemical makeup, physical necessities, the works. The basics of the RU - water, fire, earth, air - are practically poisonous to the UD, and vice versa with us in it. Henry survived thanks to his power, but his transformation into Vecna was him adapting to the perfect being capable of occupying both worlds, and he's been doing the same to the entire UD. The air was genuinely toxic in season 1 because that's the first time the RU was connected to the UD since Vecna was banished. Ever since then, however, it's been getting more infused with elements from the RU, meaning the creatures are more used to it and humans are safer in it. The particles are still there, but thanks to the assimilation, they don't really do anything to people but cause a mild cough. It has been a small lifeline for the Democreatures, though, infused with enough nutrients from their original world to make up the difference if necessary.

Anyway yes Vecna's Generals is over two years old by now. And Steve and Eddie don't interact much physically in the AU, but once they do... it doesn't end up well for either one (cough cough bc of K cough cough).

Vecna's Generals is a post-Season 4 AU where the final attack on Vecna injured him into near paralysis. To combat this, he revives the lost friends and foes of The Party, to take his abilities and continue the fight in his stead. They return, cursed with the appearance and powers of their cause of death.

While this collection of doomed soldiers remains themselves for the most part, their leader is able to take control of them whenever he requires, to act out his destructive plans.

When they are free, or dormant, they are "The Imprisoned"

When they are controlled, or activated, they are "The Board"

Some small notes, this AU does have body horror, Vecna being horrible and the characters suffering for it, "getting so much worse before it gets better," Steddie, the ST canon assholes seeing the error of their ways, and an eventual happy ending. Just figure y'all should know what you're getting into.

This entire AU is still very much so in-progress, so some things are likely to change, such as arcs and information. I'd love to hear any and all ideas for it, and am very open to feedback! I want to make this cohesive, enjoyable, and satisfying to read, so bring it on!

The Party was going to find out about The Board soon enough. Best it be by Vecna's own hand.

He launched each of his Generals individually over the past few weeks, allowing them to freely attack the useless military and letting their presence haunt the town's civilians. Taking care to keep The Party away from witnessing or interacting with the destruction.

He briefly gained control of one insignificant journalist, ordering it to document each of his Generals. Takes information from both his own intentions and The Imprisoned's explanations and discoveries. Orders it to lure in the two main researchers from The Party with it, and to hand all of the information over.

As the exchange happens he turns to the others. Left behind somewhere in the town, weakened and exhausted in mind and spirit. It's the last part of his plan, to show The Party themselves the control he holds over those they killed and abandoned.

And there is only one who will believe him outright.
