For cake decorating, you can make pretty fall leaves out of wafer paper that you can eat. These leaves are great for adding a touch of fall charm to your baked goods and are vegan-friendly.
Ingredients: 15 sheets of wafer paper. Vegan food coloring red, orange, yellow, and brown. 2 tablespoons maple syrup. 2 tablespoons water. Edible gold or bronze dust optional.
Instructions: For the vegan food coloring, mix small amounts of each color with a few drops of water in different bowls until you get the shades you want. Paint the wafer paper sheets with different fall colors on a clean paintbrush to make patterns that look like leaves. Let them dry all the way. When it's dry, use clean scissors to cut leaf shapes out of the colored wafer paper. To make an edible glue, mix maple syrup and water in a small bowl. Apply a thin layer of the edible glue to one side of each wafer paper leaf. Then, place another leaf of the same size on top of it to make a leaf with two sides. Do this with all of the leaves, then let them dry. If you want the leaves to look like they are shimmering, lightly brush edible gold or bronze dust around the edges of them. Put these pretty vegan fall wafer paper leaves on your cakes or desserts to make them look nicer.
