Zurich Veilchenmeister,: Saint Anthony Abbas (Antonius Retabel)
The panel Saint Anthony Abbas of the Zurich Veilchenmeister, is the medal of a triptych from northern Switzerland. The makeshift name Zurich Veilchenmeister, goes back to the very well recognizable signet of the artist: an Ackervilchen (pansies). This is also clearly visible in the forefront of Antonius's thrones. This defends his Patriarch Cross on a Bible to defend the approaching, horned devil, and with his right makes a blessing. A kneeling youth shows Antonius his hand, which seems to be in flames, and point to the burning pains of the Antonius fire (also called mother's disease).
